I am sorry that I have not taken the time to update you about Tegans scans!! We went a week ago and there is no spot on her lung at all. It is gone!!! Ang and I cried like a baby!!! We stayed in Utah and celebrated with a hotel with a pool and went and saw the divers at the Mayan restaurant. Tegan was so excited about it. We are so grateful for your prayers. The reason I have not written is during this time my sister died. My heart is broken and I have been helping with things that we need to get done for her Husband. She died during the night sometime and it was a shock. Karren had suffered for years with horrible pain from arthritis. The peace we find is knowing that she is out of pain. Its always so hard on the ones left behind. We just want them here with us. As I have said before life happens!!! We have so much to be thankful for. I am here for several weeks now for lots of fun things. Its wonderful to be here with the kids and grand babies. Love all of you and thank you for always lifting me up. Love Jacque

I wanted to take the time to update the blog. Tegan 4 weeks ago had her scans and they found a small white spot on her left side. The Doctors felt strongly that they should wait for six weeks before they did a biopsy to see if it was still there. They felt it could be a lot of different reasons that it might be there. Angela ask the question that if it is cancer will it spread in that time and they said they are not worried about that. So we have waited and prayed. I did not want to alarm anyone but I really started thinking of all the prayers that were said in her behave and decided that we sure needed them again. She goes in on the 5Th of April for her new scans and we are praying it will be gone. The reason they also wait is that it is major surgery for a 4 year old because they have to put them under to do it. Any way its been along month!! She looks great and acts great. I have another favor if any of you live by a Perkins restaurant today they are doing a fund raiser where they are taking donations for the Give Kids the World foundation. This is where we stayed when Make a wish sent Tegan to Disney World. There are Kids from all over the world and Perkins furnish the food for the families while they are there for no charge. It is such a blessing to see these kids who have been threw so much and have this opportunity to just have fun. Today March 21st all day they will be taking donations for this. I don't even know if anyone is still checking this blog. I have been so bad about writing. I truly felt I needed to send out a new blog after this Christmas to share how amazing this year has been!!! A picture speaks for itself. Amazing huh!!!! Look at that cute face. I am sure that all of you remember that she was in a coma last year from her radiation burn. Needless to say we were so sad, scared, and hopeful!!!! Well that was 2009 and now look at her now!!! We are humble, grateful and continue to be prayerful!!!! Every 3 months when she goes in for her scans we hold our breath!! In Feb. it will be one year since her last chemo!! Cole is 9 months old. As you can see by his pictures he is such a cutie. Kennedy and Tegan brought in 2011 with a tea party. I think of all of you daily and am brought to tears often as I look back on those dark days and know with out a doubt that you all got us through this. We are so thankful for you and for all of our blessings. I have yet to finish her scrapebooks. While we were going through it all,I could do it but now its so hard to look at those pictures and see her so sick. I know I will be able to revisit it again someday, but right now I just want to look ahead at all her progress. I want you to know that I am grateful for everyday!!! I don't take any of those days for granted. Rog had all of us girls go get our toes done on Christmas Eve. He wanted Tegan to have hers done too. She was so excited. Life is an adventure!!! I wanted to share some news about our little Tegan . She had her scans and everything came out clean!! Also she met with her heart Doctor and they did all those tests and he want s to take her off her heart medicine as her heart is functioning perfect. He does not know if that is because the meds are working or that her heart healed from the trauma of the chemo. So she is off the meds and they will check again at the next scans the end of November. It has been 6 months since she finished her last chemo!! Wow what an amazing blessing!! We are trying our hardest to not panic each time she has her scans because this will be 5 years of scans but it is so scary!! Angela said she did not even cry when they placed the IV in her hand!! She is an amazing little girl. I asked Eric to post a picture of her and Cole so you could see how her hair has grown. She looks great. Whits and Treys wedding was so wonderful. It was so great to have all the kids and there families with us. We had so many friends and family travel so far to come and be apart of this special day. All the kids had a blast dancing at the wedding and Tegan kept up with everyone!! When Tegan and Kennedy came out to be the flower girls Tegan is so shy she had a hold of her skirt and was walking very slow and Kennedy just kept saying to her Tegan you can do it!!! They were so cute and Jax and Tavin did a great job with the rings. It is an understatement to say I feel blessed. I think of all of you daily and it just makes me smile! My thoughts love and prayers are with you. I have not finished Tegans scrapbook I did for her while we were in Salt Lake. Its hard to go back there. I wanted to do this for her so when she is older she will know just how brave she was threw all of this. I know that I will get it done but for some reason right now when I see those pictures it just brings on all the fear and sadness I felt while she was going threw all of it!! I am reminded daily of how no matter what is in head of all of us it is just such a blessing to know you never go threw anything alone. I am eternally grateful to all of you for lifting us up daily by your example of unconditional love and friendship. Love to all of you Jacque

I am in Idaho. I came to help with my nieces wedding and be here for Coles blessing. Both events were wonderful!!! Roger met me here and we have been up to the cabin with the kids for a week. What a great time. Rog left this morning to go back to Maryland and I will be going home on Tuesday. All of the Idaho kids will be in Maryland in a week for Whit and Treys wedding so the party just continues!!! I just wanted to tell you how Tegan is doing. She is amazing!!! She is having psychical therapy on her left hand and arm and she is such a trooper. It hurts alot but she goes in and takes whatever she has to do. The other day I said to her something about her being sick and she was so shocked and said I was sick!!! She will go for her 3 month scans the end of August when she gets back for D.C. I know that we will make ourselves crazy before they are over. We know that we have been blessed but it is still so scary. She is a funny three year old that lives for princess dresses and dolls and Tinker bell is her favorite for the weeks. She dressed Roger up as the witch and he played right along with her. We feel grateful for everyday with her and all of our grandchildren and our children. Life has never been so precious for all of us since we went threw this with this brave little girl. I am reminded daily how life can change in a moment. I am continually lifted up still by all of you and your love for us. Love you all and think and pray for you daily. Jacque

I am writing this morning because I miss writing to all of you. Someone told me I should get my own blog or facebook but I had to have the kids set this blog up. I am not computer savvy at all. Tegan is amazing. She was so thrilled to dress up for her favorite person Kennedy's Birthday Party. I t was a princess party and she was thrilled. Kennedy is so excited to be three. Tegan is trying to be potty trained but is not excited about it and told me that her mom and dad are mean!!! I love that she is getting a little sassy! Her next scans will be the end of August. Everyone will be here on the 3rd of August for Trey and Whitney's wedding. I t was scheduled for August of last year but we were in Utah with Tegan so they postponed it for a year. I know you can imagine the joy we all feel to be able to all be together for this wedding!!! The wedding is the 14Th of August in North Carolina. We are blessed! I still feel all of you with us and never forget for a moment all that you have done for our family. I greet everyday with amazing gratitude. I pray for you and your families. All of our children and grand babies are happy and healthy. When we were in Utah Angela and I decided that we would make everyday a great day for Tegan and find all the good in the day and not the bad!! I think that is the best way for all of us to get up in the morning because I have found no matter what there is always more good things in a day than bad!! Last night I talked to Angela and it was Tegans last soccer game and she made a goal!!! Angela said mom coach Shelby and the other team coach helped her out!!! It was a team effort!! It brought to my mind that those words really sum up this last year for us!! A true team effort from all of you for Tegans recovery. So team quess what? Tegan had her 3 month check up and scans and they are clean!!! So another touch down for us!!! She is a tired little girl who had to go threw alot today but we sure do feel so blessed. We all know how fragile life is and how in a moment our lifes can be changed forever. Last week two of my dearests friends husbands died a day apart from eachother. Both suddenly and unexpected. I have been heart broken for Carol and for Susan. Jim and Shirrel were both amazing men who impacted others lifes in ways you cannot even imagine. I hope all of you will keep there families in your prayers as you have for our little Tegan! She sure does love her Cole!! So thankful for all of you LOve Jacque

Today is Jaxons seventh Birthday!! First grandchild and he is already seven!! The time does not just pass it soars by us in a blink of an eye. Last year at this very time Tegan had gone into the Doctor for her sore arm and the Doctor finally gave her an examine and found the lump on her neck. Angela called and said they were headed to the hospital for a scan of it. I had talked to Susan Young about it earlier and she had told me about her own grandson having a lump and it was nothing just something to do with the glands. I felt confident that it was going to be fine. After the scans she was going to Jaxons Birthday party and then back so the Doctors could read them. Rog and I were headed to the Temple and she said she would leave us a message when the results came back. When we got out of the temple we had a message and Angela said mom, dad it is bad they are sending us to Primary Children's Hospital in the morning!! I don't tell you this now to make you sad because we are rejoicing right now and are celebrating, that we have Cole here and that Tegan is with her little brother and seems to be getting stronger daily!!! As I sit here right now typing this I truly have to ask some days did this really happen and were we really in Salt Lake for 11 months. As we go forward it just feels so good to see this little family be so excited for day to day living. We are well aware of the changes of the the cancer returning but what we know most of all is how precious each day is for all of us. I have said many times we really don't know what is in store for any of us but what I know more than anything now is that we really can endure really hard things because of our Faith ,Family and Friends!! I have to admit that a year ago I could have never imagined going threw this and actually holding up threw it. I was thinking of all the prayers from every religion that were said in our behave and was thinking of how you will never know how each one was answered. Tegan was so afraid of strangers yet each Doctor , Nurse or staff member she never was afraid of. She hated medicine and did not want to take it and now she will be on medicine probably the rest of her life and she takes it without thinking about it. She just does it!!! When she got so burned from the radiation they said she would have to learn to swallow all over again!! She could swallow on her own when she woke up from the coma. She is having phyiscal therapy right now on her left arm and they cannot believe the movement she has because they thought that she may not beable to use it but she is and is getting better each day with it. She is playing soccer!!! Who Knew!!! The list goes on and on and I felt today the very day we found out about the cancer I needed to post a blog and tell you that a year ago the depths of despair was so strong in Roger and my heart we cried all the way back to his car and he got out and said I will go to the office and get us a plane ticket to Utah for tomorrow. We made it, we did it with the help of all of you!!! A year has pasted and we are closer than ever as a family. We are blessed and thankful for each day. Thanks for reading this journal I have written. I hope to share all these blogs with Tegan someday. Well I am going to have cake with a darling little Seven year old who has a crown on from school that says he is 7!!! You are all in my heart forever! I love you Jacque

Cole is a week old today and still as amazing as the first moment I lay ed eyes on him!! He is a great baby and Tegan has been so cute with him. She has showed no signs of being jealous of him. I still find myself teary from just plain joy and gratitude for our blessing. It is hard to describe but I truly believe that because all of you have been with us this year that you all understand what I am trying to say!!! It is so fun to have all the grand kids in the same town . They are all so fun and unique. Thanks so much for the comments on the blog they just make us smile and we feel you with us. I am having so much fun getting to keep Cole at night. He sleeps so good and just snuggling with him is so fun. Love you Jacque

Cole arrived on the 19Th of April and 10:30 in the morning!! Angela is doing great and Cole is just darling!!! Eric said that he will for sure put pictures on the blog today!!! Cole skipped the newborn stage and went right for the 3 month stage!! He weighed 9lbs12oz and is 22and 3/4 inches tall!!! Lots of black hair and the sweetest little face!!! He really does not cry he just smacks his lips to let mom it is time for lunch!!! Tegan is so happy he has arrived!! She was in the delivery room while he was being born and she stood on a chair and held her moms hand. I think she was not to sure why her mom was in that bad and not herself. When she talked to Grandpa Munns to give him the news she said mom has an ow wee!! She checks on him often when he sleeps and always says I love you Cole!!! Needless to say we are thrilled and excited to have this new little guy in our family! Hudson came to see him and he is 4 months older and they are almost the same size!! I know they are going to have lots of fun together. I am so grateful for the miracle of life!!! I can't wait for you to see him. Thanks again for your prayers in getting this little boy here safe and sound. I expect any moment he will say Grammie stop all the kissing!!! Love to you Jacque

Just wanted to share some pictures with you from Tegans Birthday yesterday!!! She is three now and was so excited. We loved this picture of Tegan and Kennedy. They were in the little house part of Tegans new swing set! She is thrilled to be three and tells everyone. We are also so thrilled that she is three. Last year on the 17Th of April Angela noticed the vein on her neck that it looked really big and so on the 22Nd for her 2 year old check up she asked the Doctor about it and he said it was just a normal vein. Then from that day forward until the 30th of April when they found the tumor Angela kept going in to say this is not right!! A moms worried feelings are usually a sign that they just know! I feel such joy to have been here to share in this time with this family!! Angela and I could not keep the tears back . You can all see how good she looks and she is feeling great. Tonight Angela goes in the hospital to be induced so Cole will be delivered sometime tomorrow the 19Th of April!! Saying that I feel so grateful and blessed does not even cover all that I am feeling. Just wanted to tell you that Tegan played in her first soccer game!!! She threw in the ball with both hands. Probably does not seem like a big deal but she does not use her left hand because of the cancer and the nerve damage she has suffered so its a huge deal!! She kicked the ball and Tavin her cousin made a goal so her Aunt Shelby the coach was just excited to keep all these little 3 year olds on the field and moving!! She starts her first appointments with the occupational therpists today. We are so thankful they have gotten her in and are excited they will be working with her to get this little left hand working better for her. Angela was so excited to have her get to her first soccer game that she got there an hour early!!! I leave this Thursday to go back to Idaho for the birth of Cole!! Angela is getting really excited about getting this little boy hear and so am I!!! I cannot wait to see what he looks like. Needless to say I am teary about all we have to look forward to!! One of the things I have really missed about not being at primaries childrens hospital has been not being so connected to all of you threw the blog. So today I thought I need to sit down and just give you an update on Tegan and her family. We still feel your prayers as she goes threw the recovery process. Her parents are working with the insurance company to get the thearpy for her left hand. She has nerve damage from the cancer so she has to learn to use it again. It hurts her because she has not used it for a year. She is truly having a blast at home., She loves being around her cousins and had so much fun having Easter egg hunts. I still get a lump in my throat when she gets to do these normal things!! She was pretty sad last night when her first soccer practice was cancelled because of snow!!! Angela said that she had her knee pads on and was ready so they had to go take her for a treat cause she was so sad about it!! Angela was sad about the snow in April!!! I want all of you to know that we think of you daily and find ourselfs talking often about how you all carried us literally threw this last year!!! Each day is a mile stone for the future. I pray each day that I won't let a day pass without being grateful for all I have in my life!!! Sure do love you Jacque

Tegan has been having a blast being home and just being able to see her cousins. She loves going to the library. I marvel at the day to day things that we take for granite and yet for her they are so new and exciting. Angela and Eric have done amazing letting her be this Normal little girl!! They still are in there swimsuits in the tub with her!! She still is not sure about all that. I am actually back in Maryland for a few weeks!! Rog said please come home and so I am here. I am so excited to be back with him and it has been so fun to see my home, friends and Waldorf!! I will fly back to Idaho on the 15th of April to go for the birth of Cole Salce!!! To say we are excited about this new little boy coming to our family is sure an understatement!! We just feel so blessed and sometimes this last year seems like did it really happen!! As I look back I am reminded each day how truly blessed we all are in just our every day living!! I continue to pray that I will remember to always look for the good in each day. We know that we all have mysteries ahead of us. Our futures are a mystery! I just don't want to live in fear of those mysteries!!! When we left the hospital the Doctor told us that cancer can return but she said that if you live with being afraid that could happen that is just not living!!! I am sure that there will be days of over hovering Tegan and all the grand kids because of this last year but all in all I really do think that we will find a balance in learning to really live outside of cancer!!!!! I continue to be lifted up daily by all of you !! I am just so excited about everything!! It has been so fun to walk around my house after 10and half months. Also my husband has been so fun!! I wanted to just drop you all a little note and tell you that Tegan got to take her first bath since she got cancer. She was so scared!! She would not sit down so her mom got her swim suit on and got in with her!!! She then was fine. I watched with amazement at her doing somethiing that seems so ordinary to me and how she was in awe at the feeling of the bubbles and water touching her whole body!! She has had several baths since but still has a parent in there swimsuit with her!! (it will take some time) I have watched Angela and Eric and Tegan settle in to a normal routine and all of them are doing so great. No matter what there fears maybe they are so great about letting Tegan find her way back to things she use to do. There are of course the visible scares that are a reminder of this last year but to watch her play and run and have the energy to that is such an amazing blessing. When she first got into the tub she noticed her tubes were gone and when I asked her where they went she said to work!!! I pray each day they are working for some other child who maybe going threw this. With all the really hard and scary things that we went threw this last year I have also remembered such amazing Faith promoting moments that have changed me forever!! It has been so fun to be around the other kids and these cute little grand kids. They have had such fun with Tegan and they seem to not even notice she has a mask on when she is around them. I love how children really do not notice when someone looks different. They just want to play together. Today is Shelby's Birthday!! She is 32 and so now I told her we are sisters not mom and daughter!!! How did she get so old when I am 29 and holding!!! I have really realized that no matter what maybe in store for any of us with family friends and the knowledge that our father in heaven is with us we can endure threw life's challenges. Just wanted to tell you that Tegan is loving life at home. She wears her mask out still while all the flu and cold season is here. I am always so amazed at how she never even fusses about it being on and all her cousins seem to not even notice!! I still find myself watching her and just not being able to even imagine what has happened this year. I see her hair growing in and her eyelashes and eyebrows and watch her run and play and I just say thank you Heavenly Father for these moments!!! I am truly having a blast with all the kids and doing things for them and with them. I am anxious to get this little boy hear safe and sound and to be able to get back to Maryland with my boyfriend!!! Angela is doing so good letting this little girl be a little girl. She says to her daily Tegan your strong Healthy and brave and today is a great day!! I know this year many of you have had your own trials to cope with and I want you to know that you have been in our prayers as well. Thank you for your love and support. Love Jacque

Tegan got along great with the removal of her central line!! It was so fast and she came out of the surgery really great. The Doctors were so cute about what an amazing little girl and even though they were grateful she is doing so good they said they would sure miss her!! We have been so blessed with those that have taken such great care of her this last 10 months at Primaries!! We have met so many people who have changed all of our life's. We have only been home two days but we have been jumping back into to life in Pocatello. Angela went yesterday and signed up Tegan for soccer. Shelby will be her coach. Tegan is beside herself and got a pink and black soccer ball. As Angela told me about her fears, her hopes and dreams for this little girl I just sobbed with the feeling of such overwhelming gratitude!! When the Doctors told us on Tuesday that the scans were clear but that until 5 years they could not say she was cancer free I could not help but think yesterday as Angela talked about Tegans new adventures in the world of a almost three year old that what she is right now is free!! Free to learn and grow and try lots of new things. Eric said I wonder if when the kids start running towards her if she will be scared!! I thought every little person is scared about that!!! Tegan had to show me that she does not have any tubes hanging down!! Right now everyday is just the best day ever for her. She is so thrilled about every new thing she gets to do that she has not gotten to do. I look at her right now and I want to hold on to her amazement about everyday things and have that. I don't want to forget how blessed each of us are everyday. I want to say thank you for all the comments on the blog. For all the calls and cards to share in this great blessing. WE JUST MET WITH THE DOCTORS AND THE SCANS WERE GREAT!!! I felt I was having an out of body experience while they were talking to us about the tests. I was so scared oh me of little faith!! You would think I would learn from all the blessings we have received and all the prayers. To say we feel blessed is an understatement. Thank you a million times over for being with us this whole time. You will never know what all of you have taught me about true love and compassion. I will always be forever changed by this whole experience. A friend of mine who lost her Husband last Jan. sent us quote right when we found out about Tegan and it went like this" Life is not about waiting for storms to pass its about learning to dance in the rain!!! We have truly tried threw all of this to look for the good in each day and to really dance. Needless to say right now we are truly dancing!!! Today Tegan had to wear a gown from the hospital for her scans. Her mom got her new hot pink shoes and so after the scans she would not take off her stunning gown. We have been up and down the hospital and she does not care that she has been mooning the country!! Tomorrow the tubes come out!!! A week later she will get to do all that she has not gotten to do!! Every three months she will be rescanned. Angela asked tough questions. The Doctors said in the first 2 years there is a greater chance it could return but because of it being in the shoulder they really don"t know as this kind of cancer is usually in the brain or the kidney. She advised her parents to live each day with Joy and to let Tegan live each day as a little girl who has been such a brave little fighter. Doctor Wright could not say enough about how strong Tegan was and that they never dreamed that she would endure all she did and have the results she did. I have said many times that this little girl has taught me more this last 10 months than I have learned my whole life. I want you to know that I will keep you posted from time to time on her. I really cannot even imagine not being connected to all of you by this blog. We look forward to great adventures ahead of us. We will get her home and get this new little brother here and I will get home to Maryland with my sweet Husband. I sure want to take time to thank our other children and grandchildren and there wonderful spouses who have been with us every step of the way and have never once said mom do you have time for us!!! I am humbled by the realization that we really are getting her central line removed tomorrow!!! No more tubes to flush! Thank you all!! It seems like such a small word to say. I love you Jacque

We are here at the hospital. You should have seen Tegan when she got here. She was so excited to see that we were back to her second home!!! She has been so sweet with the staff and they were glad to see her looking so good! She is in recovery right now and is awake and starving!! They are giving her juice and crackers as I type this. Just want to let you know she is done today and we will be back tomorrow at 9 to start a full day of scans, heart tests and then upstairs to see what the Doctors say. I can't even tell you how anxious I feel. I look at this precious family and all that they have gone threw and I just want to make it all better!! We leave tomorrow Sunday for Utah and go in at 7 in the morning on Monday. She will also have her Eco done as well on Tuesday to see what is happening with her heart. She has had a blast at home and even though her counts are very low you would never know it. We are having a special fast and prayer for Tegan tomorrow so we would be so grateful to any one who would like to join with us. I know I don't even need to ask, you have all been with us this whole time. It is an understatement to say we are anxious!! I remember the saying that the past is over, the future is a mystery and today is a gift that is why they call it the present!! So we are living in this moment and we will be prepared for tomorrow when it comes!! So we are trying to be as brave and positive as Tegan has always been. As soon as we know anything I will blog and let all of you know what is going on. I want you to know that all of you are in my prayers daily just like I know we are in your prayers!! Just wanted to let you know that we moved out of the Ronald McDonald apartments yesterday and moved back to Pocatello. Tegan is so thrilled to be back to her house. We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies our cars were so loaded down with stuff!!! Now the count down till her scans. I was thinking of all the things she has not gotten to do since all this and was daydreaming about when and I say when they say she gets to have all her tubes removed and what it will be like for her. She has just accepted everything she has had to go threw as though it was just the way it was. So I can only imagine what it will be like for her to get to go places with other kids. Then I think of this poor little girl who will have to deal with her two nervous Nellie's around her. You might want to pray for us to be not so crazy scared about her living life!! Well the day really did come. We just finished her last chemo!! Yahoo!! She was very charming with the doctors and they were excited for her but said how they would miss this cute little girl!! This chemo they have given her the last two weeks has not made her hair fall out so each day she wants you to rub her head and feel the fuss!! She has eyebrows and is getting eyelashes back!! So fun to see her like this. We have a week break and then on the 22ND we go for the scans. We are praying like crazy that they do not find anymore cancer cells and then on the 24 they will take the tubes out of her chest and a week from that she will get to take a bath!!! We could not of gotten threw any of this without all of you!! Your prayers, thoughts, cards, gifts and love kept us going. Tegan felt you all with her when she went threw horrible things. We felt you when the despair would take a hold and we would reread a message that was sent and we would kick ourselves in the bottom and say hey today is a new day! Just wanted to let you all know that Tegan goes in on Tuesday for her Last yes I said Last chemo until the scans. We are 3 days away from that day. We just got finished with church here at the hospital and I am always reminded of the great blessings of prayer. The church meetings here are so amazing as you see so many little kids so sick and there families praying as hard as we are for the miracle of there children getting better!! It always makes me even more thankful for all of you and all you have done to lift us up with your prayers. I will be eternally grateful forever to y0u. Tegan has decided this week that she wants to be potty trained and wow this is really fun. She really just wants to wear her big girl panties with Little Mermaid on them. It is quite the sight as she has to lift all her tubes up to get settled in for her potty break!! I will blog on Tuesday and let you know about the chemo!! We are back in the clinic for chemo today. We just got her blood work back and she needs a blood transfusion. She can still have the chemo because all the other numbers are up.. So we are grateful for that. She is sound asleep and they are doing the chemo right now. Next week will be her last chemo. Then in two weeks they will do the scans!!! We are scared and excited all at once!!! She continues to be this little positive two year old. Someone said to me well this is all she knows. I could not help thinking that she was two when she was diagnosed with cancer. I think she remembers days at her home and just being a little girl. I think that she makes a choice each day to have faith in the people taking care of her and she chooses to be happy . I have seen her be scared and sad. Angela and I have watched as tears fall down her cheeks when something hurts but amazingly when we pull into the parking lot she says yeah yeah its the Doc Doc!!! She knows in order for her to get back home and be a little girl again they are the ones who will make that happen!! I have learned more from her in this last 10 months than I have learned my whole life. I am so grateful for all she has taught me!! I just wanted to let all of you know that Tegan is in the hospital for her last overnight chemo!!! She is done with the chemo now and they are flushing it out of her. We will get to leave the hospital sometime tomorrow!! So many of the nurses and staff have come to tell her how excited they are that this is the last overnight for chemo and that they are praying for her scans to come back perfect!! We have been blessed with really wonderful people who have worked with Tegan and have made her feel safe in a really scary time. After this chemo we have two more but they are in the clinic for the day instead of admit. They had to change the scans. They will be in a month so the end of Feb. I can't tell you how teary it makes me to say the last of anything!! I am just so grateful that I have been with this strong little girl who has showed me the true meaning of making the best out of something so hard. She has gotten up eachday no matter what she has gone threw and said Bammie I am very hungry!! A girl after my own heart, food always makes me feel better!! I wished each one of you could spend time with her and just feel her little spirit. I know she has felt yours. We try really hard to not look back but instead look forward. Angela got a call yesterday from the hospital and they want us at Primary Childrens Hospital Monday morning at 9:30. They will do the blood work again and see how Tegan is doing and then decide when they will do the chemo. She sure has been happy to be in her home. She wants you to go from room to room so she can show you everything. On Thursday it was a really pretty day so Angela got her dressed really warm and met me and the other grandchildren and we had a picnic outside and went for a walk. First time in 9 months she got to be just a regular little girl. She was so cute and the other kids were so happy to be with her. All the kids gave me a great camera for Christmas. They said mom you need to move out of the box camera stage!! So guess where my camera is? At the apartment in Salt Lake. We had such a photo op and me without my camera!! Would have loved to capture that moment when I was walking with Tegan on one side of me holding my hand and Kenny and Tavin on the other side of me holding hands and just loving being together!! Jax was way ahead riding his scooter. Like the commercial it was priceless!! Just so you know Jax was not willing to wear matching T-shirts!! Who knew that would not be cool!!!! What fun it was to be shown around his school and to have him be so excited about it!! Its been a shot in all of our arms to be around family this last few days. We just finished blood work for Tegan and all her numbers are good except for her platelets. She has to have at least 75 as her number and she is 51. As we have said all along is that we want her strong before the chemo kills everything again. The scary part for us is right in the beginning they told us that this cancer was very fast growing and so without all the treatments is there any live cells still growing. The mystery is that we will not know that until they do the evaluation and then we will know what is going on in her body. The plus is that they have felt really strongly that by the tumor removal and radiation they feel that the cancer is 80percent gone. They want to finish all the chemo so that we will know that we have done all that could be done. So as woman we are worriers!! When Rog and I first got married I would talk to him about our future kids and how I would pray for good spouses for them!! He would say we don't even have kids yet and your already worried about them and being married. This example is just a long list of how my mind works!! By the way all of our kids have great spouses so I worried needlessly!! I am just giving you a history of what Tegan has been up against with her mom and me!! Yes worry warts is a very good term for us!! If we are not freaking ourselves out I am sure we are driving Tegan nuts hovering!!! Just a side note I really do have faith in the power of healing and we have seen it but boy is it easy to worry!! The good news is that today we are going to Pocatello and spending a few days. Tegan and Ang are thrilled. We go back to the hospital Monday to see if she can be admitted. I get to go with Jax for Grandparents day my first at his school. Thank you so much to Ally and Tyson for the cute post of Tegan home for her Christmas. So glad you got see our new little Hudson!!! Kenny calls to talk to Tegan and wants her to get home so they can drive her car!!! It is such a shot in the arm for all of us to be around the rest of the family!! We sure do miss all of you!! Tegans numbers are still not high enough but they increase each time they check so maybe tomorrow when they check her little body will be ready!!! We go to Huntsman to meet with the radiation Doctor so she can check her out. We had to wait for a month from the last treatment!! So check that off!! Her appointment is Tuesday. You can not believe how good her little neck looks now. The specialist cannot believe it either. The outside really looked like a charred piece of meat!!! I cannot even let myself think of what her inside of the throat looked like!!! I have found that I find comfort in living in my chipper chicken world where all is good!!! She is still so funny and really a fun little two and half year old who just happens to have cancer!!! I recommend to everyone to hang out with a two year old as often as you can!!! Tegan was suppose to be admitted today for chemo but her numbers are still to low so we will pray that they will get better and next week she can get started!! We are so close but we want her strong so she will get threw it without a hitch!!! The Jewish community center offers free membership to families that are at Primary Children's Hospital. The center is across from the hospital!! Its a wonderful place to go and just cry as you workout. I am sure many think wow this lady really does hate exercise she even cries about it!!! I go at 5 in the morning and I have met so many wonderful people. One 89 year old man swims at the same time I do. He always wears his glasses and hat!! He says I need to see and my head gets cold. Its a baseball cap. Today he said to me I have a smile in my heart today for Tegan!!! What a special thought and prayer he gave her. We are blessed! Love to you Jacque

We have had a wonderful weekend in Idaho!! Tegan, Angela and Eric were able to have Christmas in there home!! Eric said he would post the picture we took of the three of them in the matching PJ's we all had for the holidays!! Santa brought Tegan a car!! It even has a radio and she was so thrilled about it. Friday we had the Eco and just 2 days on the medicine and her heart on the left side went from 41 percent to 60 percent!!! We were thrilled and again felt your love and prayers!! Her blood work was good and we did not have to give her shots this weekend!! As we drove up to her house she said Yeah Yeah my home!!! She is eating good and is getting her energy back daily. We go back to salt lake tomorrow. She has blood work done and then if the numbers are okay we will go back in the hospital on Wed. for an overnight stay for her chemo. Yesterday I went to a funeral for my sister-in-law Peggy's Mother, Wanda. A truly amazing women who gave service her whole life. It was the most amazing tribute to her by her 7 living children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. As I listened to all the remarks I kept thinking about the true measure of a persons life. It is not how much we have in possessions but how much we give of ourselves. The memories we make. The time we give. Being a good listener. Like Tegan making the most of everyday!! So glad I got to be there with Bill, Peg and there family . Today celebrating Christmas with a little two year old that cares nothing about what she has gone threw but is just thrilled to open another gift!!! Love you and miss you Jacque

Just wanted you yo know that Tegan got to come home from the hospital. We got home on the 5th of Jan. She has done amazing!!! She is eating and taking her Meds!! I want to share with you what she said when after 15 days in the hospital. We got to the car and I lifted her into the car seat and she said Hi T.Ts car seat!!! She was so excited about her car seat. I want to for the rest of my life see the things in life the way Tegan sees them!!! She brings me to tears daily because of her complete desire to be accepting of what she goes threw and finding the good in ever experience!!! I wanted to give you an update on the Ego yesterday. When Tegan first came in to the hospital to start chemo they do a round of tests to make sure everything eles is okay. They test the heart, lungs, ears ,bones and then test often after that to make sure they are still okay. One of the first things they tell us is that the chemo can get rid of the cancer but it also can hurt the good things in our bodies. When Tegan started chemo her heart on the left side was plusing at 77 percent which is perfect. Yesterday they found out that it is now at 41 percent. The team of heart specialists came in last night and said they first wanted to try her on heart medicine and see what happens with that. She tolrated it well so they gave her another dose this morning. I spoke with our Doctor this morning and I had written down several questions as yesterday we were pretty scared and tried to just get our head around the information. The Doctor told me they call it a heart murmur when this happens. That made me feel lots better as I have had a heart murmur my whole life and have been fine. The heart also has a great way to heal itself. She is breathing fine but her heart has to work twice as hard to pump the blood threw the left side. She has to have a blood transfusion this morning her red blood cells are to low but her platlets and white blood cells are up so she does not have to have a shot today. She is so bruised from the low blood and all the shots. The burn specialists came in yesterday and they cannot believe how her neck has healed inside and out!! She is eating a little more on her own eachday. So with every hill we climb there are a few slips on our way but the great news is we can still climb!!! Its almost more than I can bear to watch my daughter hear these things. To see the absolute fear in her eyes. Then to see her hold onto this little girl for dear life and try to protect her!!! Tomorrow is Angelas Birthday. My little girl will be 34. Remember I had her when I was ten!!! Ha. All I want to give her is the blessing of taking Tegan home healthy and getting ready for her little boy to be born!! That continues to be my prayer. We will have an ultra sound done at the end of the week on her heart and see if tells a different story. What I have learned threw all of this Miracles do happen!!! Sure do love you Jacque

It was so great to get so many birthday wishes. Thank you so much!! I am excited to still be 39 and holding! I do have to admit that something are not holding as well as other things!!! I gt to spend the night with Tegan last night and bless her heart she still is vomiting and she is so positive about it. She wanted to watch Nemo as she felt bad and is still very concerned for Nemos well being as his dad looks for him!!! Always thinking of others! Right now she is having an Eco. They have heard something abnormal and saw something on one of her tests. So we are praying it is nothing and are so grateful for good staff that stays on top of everything. She was so excited to ride in the wagon and get out of the room . It has been 14 days since she has gotten to leave that room. She was excited for a field trip!!! Her Grandma and grandpa Salce sent her beautiful red shoes that are velvet and a purple and pink tutu!! She had me do her makeup this morning so she was quite beautiful!! She wanted to wear every gift that they had given her together . The nurses in the Eco department could not get over her and even with her mask on she was stunning!! I hope to get Eric to send a picture on line so I can share it with you. All night last night she wanted me to hold her and to hold her hand!! Happy New Year to everyone!! It seems unreal to me that it is 2010. Tegan is still in the hospital. She has been throwing up today and they are not sure why!! The Doctor said there biggest concern is that her platelets are so low. Today she had another transfusion and she just has not had her numbers go up. Until they do she cannot get out of the hospital. Bless her heart she has been in a bed now for 12 days. As a two year old you know that she has got to be wondering when she will ever get to play again. We just keep praying that she will be better today and then the next day!! Roger leaves tomorrow to go back to D.C. I take Kirby and Scott back to Salt Lake tomorrow afternoon to fly back to Arizona. Then I will go back to the hospital with Angela and Tegan. Today our little grandson Hudson was blessed in our church and we felt so thankful to be apart of it!! Yesterday when everyone was having a nap I was sitting alone and thinking about my life . As all of us know there are lots of ups and downs in all of our life's but I concluded that there are way more ups than downs!!! I thought of all the things I have learned this year alone about the true meaning of Love, faith ,family and friendship!! I have learned so much about prayer and Hope. I have seen a little two year old endure so much pain and yet find joy in each day!! I have spent more time on my knees this year and I have humbled myself to realize this is not on my time frame. It is the 31st of December, whoknew!!! I stayed the night with Tegan and she is such an angel. She drank a little more yesterday and loved having her Grandpa Munns hold her and even played catch with him. He feels so gratiful that she has wanted to be his best buddy. It will give him such a lift as he leaves to go back to Maryland and will hold him over until he gets back here to see her again!! We told the kids a couple of years ago that on New years eve when they were little we would set the clock back to ten and tell them it was midnight!! We would light sparklers and bang on pans and come on it was midnight somewhere. Everyone was falling to sleep including the parents anyway!! Well they wanted to know what eles we had decieved them about!! Harsh! I don't need to tell any of you how excited I am for 2010 to get here!!! I also want you to know that even with all Tegan has gone threw we have been blessed in 2009 in ways we never could even explain!! I cannot let this year end without saying again thank you to all of you for making this year amazing!! For strenthing me and caring about all of us. Your words in cards and letters, calls and blog have truly helped us get threw the day. I have filled up 6 scrapaebooks from just cards and letters from all of you. I want Tegan to see all the love that was sent her way. I am so gratiful to our 5 kids and there amazing spouses who have asked for nothing this year and have given so much. So gratiful for those same kids who made us grandparents!! That is a gift that just keeps giving!!! How these little ones make life so fun!! To an amazing man who loves me inspite of my flaws and supports his family in everyway possible!! For a Heavenly Father that is always there and really does answer prayers. I am even thankful for dark days so I can recognize the light and be gratiful!! I am thankful for strangers who have reached out to our family. I am so gratiful to all of you. I just got back to Salt Lake with Roger, Kirby and Scott. Tegan was not to excited to see us but she is really sassy and keeps telling us to be quiet and go away !!! I think it is a great sign that we are getting on her nerves. When I left last week she could not even hold her head up so I am so glad that she is stronger. They said it will be awhile before she really feels like swollowing so she will be here for awhile longer. I feel gratiful to have her under the care of all of these wonderful people here at childrens. I was so scared when we had her at home and she was so weak. I will stay the next two nights at the hospital so Angela can get some rest. Whit flies out tomorrow. We will go back to Idaho on Thursday for Hudsons blessing on Sat. Then I will come back on Sunday to bring Scott and Kirby to the airport. Rog leaves from Pocatello on Sunday morning. Then I will stay until we finish everything left on her road map. She won't have chemo this week. She is to weak from all she has gone threw so we will wait until she is ready to finish. She has enddured so much and continues to fight so hard to get this cancer out of her body!!! I will forever look at her as a hero in such a awful time. We felt your prayers even more this last 10 days as she had this set back. It lifted us up in ways that are hard to explain. I just wanted to give all of you an update on Tegan. She is still in the hospital. She is still fighting an infection and the pain is still so bad. They have told us that it will probably be a couple of weeks before she will be visibly better. Her central line got a hole in it. That is where they put all the med in. So today they were able to patch it and so we are thankful she did not have to go back into surgery to get that done. Angela said that so many people came to the hospital that had had children that were in the same place last year and they brought gifts and sang . Several families had children who did not make it but vowed they would make a difference in all the other families who have had to go threw this. Pay it forward they have said!! I am so touched by all of the kindness and wonderful acts of service. We all made it threw yesterday and when I made it I know all of you will understand how sad it made all of us to not have the Salces with us but even more it was because we just want Tegan to get well so we can finish the chemo and get her h9me for good. Not one time yesterday did not someone to include the kids say I miss Tegan!! When I think about this last 8 months I feel blessed because even though this is so hard and we have seen her go threw so much we have also seen things they never thought would happen!! Prayers have been answered and we know that and they continue to be answered. It breaks my heart that she is in pain and so sick. I pray each day that she will get stronger. Whit and Trey left today to go with them. Tomorrow Shelby is going and then Rog and I will be there for a few days before he leaves to go back. I will stay until she gets to go home for good. It is Christmas Eve and I just wanted to give all of you an update about Tegan. Angela , Eric, and Tegan are in Utah still in the hospital. Tegan has had a really rough road this last few days. She has a fever right now and that usually means an infection . She is still in so much pain. The Doctors are trying hard to control the pain so that her body can heal. So many of you have prayed that she would get to be home for Christmas. Our whole family prayed for the same thing. Our hearts have been broken that they are not with us but I am thankful that they are together and that Tegan is in the hospital getting better!! Yesterday she had to have a blood transfusion and a platelet transfusion. Her numbers are so low. I am so grateful for her and her example of faith. Well we are still here and this sweet little girl is working hard to get well. They have kept her really sedated to let her little body heal. As I have watched her sleep I am thankful that we are in the hospital and she is getting relief from the pain. At two this morning she was sleeping so soundly but I just crawled in bed with her and held her and thanked heavenly father for the privilege of being here with her!! At this time of year so many people want to help in someway. Especially if a child is in the hospital so Tegan has had many visitors bringing something fun. Many of the visits have been from kids who themselves had been in the chemo ward and have survived cancer!!! They have said such uplifting things and it just touches my heart to see that they are okay!!! I am reminded daily that even in really hard times there are so many really amazing things that happen!! Life is really filled with so much good and really amazing wonderful people like all of you!!! Love your comments on the blog. The Doctors have said that it will take quite a while for her little throat to heal so for now they want her to be pain free so that she can get stronger. We are almost there!! Today is the 22 second of December!! I know everyone is busy getting all the last minute holiday things ready. All of our family will be coming tomorrow and I feel so blessed that we will be together. We have had a setback in our own families plans. Tegan was admitted to the hospital yesterday. She finished her last radiation on Friday so we were so thrilled that we had completed another step in her recovery. The Doctor had told us that the last week of radiation would be very close to her throat and she could get a very sore throat!! As you know radiation is burning the cancer cells to get rid of them. Well long story short it really burned her little throat and it did not take her long to figure out that if she ate or drank that meant she had to swallow and that was no fun!!! She would not drink or eat or take her meds. We were in the clinic having a pallet transfusion on Friday and the doctors felt that she would be okay to take home. All weekend she just kept getting weaker. The home health nurse came out and showed us how to give her IV from home but that did not perk her up!! So yesterday the Doctors admitted her and started her on food in a bottle!! They have her on Morphine for the pain. Bless her heart she was in so much pain and still did not complain. She would put both of her little hands over her mouth and close her eyes when you tried to get her to swallow anything but she still just lay ed there. I think of the times I have burned my finger on the stove and felt like that was such a terrible pain!! I cannot even imagine how she has felt!! They don't know how long she will be in the hospital. Needless to say we are so sad that she is here right now. We had so wanted to have her home with everyone Else. What we do know is that we are almost there!!! She has 3 more chemo treatments and then the evaluation. We can count on one hand what we have left to do!!! It stinks that she is going threw this and that she will be in the hospital for Christmas but 8 months ago when they told us the worst news I have ever heard we did not know if she would make it threw any of this and she has!!! We will celebrate with her when she is feeling better and it will be a great Christmas!!! All of us will take turns being here with Angela and Eric and Tegan. I learned along time ago that it is not the holiday that makes the magic its the people you love. Thanks to all of you for all of your cards and gifts and love you have sent us. Two friends stopped by yesterday and dropped by gifts for Tegan. Thanks so much Corey and Jan. I have seen so many families that have come and gone at the Ronald McDonald apartments with children that have been so sick. We have cried together and lifted each other up during hard times. Amazing what you can find out about people in the laundry room!! Two days ago I met a young mom that has a 6 month old baby who is waiting for a new heart!! She is all alone as her husband has to work to pay the bills. She just cried to me as she said I am praying that some other mom will go threw the worst pain by having her child die so that mine can live. She said how do I even get my head around that!! I had no words for her. All I could do was cry with her!! My heart goes out to this little mom and her family. We have learned so much about faith and enduring threw all of this. I have learned that the saying life is a gift and that is why they call it the present!! To live each day with a joyful heart and to look for the good in others. I want to complain less about my aches and pains and instead be glad that I am alive to feel those aches!!! I want to remember to say thank you to that clerk that has worked such long hours. I truly am so thankful for all our blessings. We are so excited to have Hudson here safe and sound and he is so amazing!! Shelby and Kyle are all moved into there new house!! I got to go help and how fun was that. We have 5 wonderful grandchildren and another on the way. Scott, Kirby, Trey and Whitney will be here with us and we are so happy about that. Rog and I have lived 8 months apart and not once has he said I wish you were here. He has said I am so grateful you are with our two girls!!! How blessed am I ? All of our children and there spouses have been there with us. They have lifted us up daily with there love and support. Thanks again to all of you. I reread my comments and boy do I go on and on!!! We are in the hospital they started her yesterday for her long stay of chemo. She did real well last night and had radiation this morning so far so good. She just does what they say and I still just cry as I see this little girl say so strong. It is so scary to take her back to radiation . They sedate her and put a helmet on her head and ask us to leave. It breaks her moms heart but we know that she has to have this to get well. When she is in for the 5 days she has 3 kinds of chemo at different times each day. Hudson was born at 10:05 on Monday the 7Th and he is amazing. He has blond hair and Ally was awesome!!! I got to keep Kennedy! So fun. This is such a fun time of the year. How blessed are all of us! I am very grateful for all I have in my life. I will keep you posted about this little girl!! This is her last 5 day stay in her road map they gave us 7 months ago. Yeah!! Happy shopping and decorating and baking!! To all my cookie exchange buddies thank yo so much for sending all those great cookies!!! Loved all of them. I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving. We had a great time at my brothers house with his family and my sister and her husband. Tegan was great and so excited to be away from the hospital and the apartment in Salt Lake. We got out on
the 27 th to shop at midnight. It was so crazy and fun!!! I love all the kooky people out shopping!!! I am one of the kooks!! Tegan has done so great with the radiation! She is half done. So thankful about that. The other day the Docs came in to talk to us before we took her back and we got to visiting and all of a sudden she says lets go!!! They said they have never ever seen even an adult ready to go back and get zapped!!! She wants to get the job done. She has not had all the side effects that usually happen when you are going threw this. Again thank you for your prayers they are working!!! Now I have another prayer request!! Her blanket that has endured every treatment that she has gone threw is on its last leg!! I have made the exact blanket , washed it and she is not falling for it!! So we are praying that it will last as she finishes her last chemo treatments and radiation. Can you believe that I just said our last treatments!!! She did not go in for her 4 day stay for chemo this last week. Her numbers were to low. So they draw blood today and will tell us if she gets to go in this week. I will keep you posted. Happy Thanksgiving!!! Angela, Eric, Tegan and myself are all in Idaho at my brother Bills house for the holiday. We came on wed. night after Tegan had radiation and chemo that day. Her numbers were high enough. The other kids all were with there in laws this year. We have had such a wonderful day and needless to say we have so much to be thankful for!! I have a sister and her husband who live close as well so we spent the day with them as well. Last year at this very same time I was feeling pretty sorry for myself! I had been working at a job for four years and loved every minute that I was there. My boss and friend had to close the doors on her business and it was so sad to me!! Working at the all women's gym was just one of those jobs where everyday I was with the m ost amazing women! I really worried that I would lose touch with these ladies. What I have found that just because there was an ending it did not mean that the friendships ended. Also at this time last year the St.Jude's holiday awareness of all the children that had cancer would be stories about kids who had cancer and I would just cry for those kids and there families. I felt so bad but I never picked up the phone once and made a donation. Quess what? We are that family this year and I know now that never again will I not pick up that phone because we are living it. As I count all our blessings you are all right there as a blessing. I have said it many times that you have lifted us up daily and words cannot explain what that has meant. We have five more weeks of chemo!! Three more weeks of radiation! Then they will do the evaluation and hopefully send us home!! Seven month's ago when we got this news and they said 30 weeks of chemo I thought how will this little 2 year old endure this. Well she has done it and I am telling you she has done it with style!!! If she does not have on her jewelry she is just n ot going! Rog and I talk daily and we just feel so thankful for all of our children! For there love and support for Tegan. We have so many things to be excited about. Hudson will be here before we know it . As Rog calls him the Mun ns boy! We will all be together this year at Shelbys and Kyles new house. How fun and great that will be. My heart is full tonight. I am grateful for each day. For every experience we have in each of our life's. For families, friends and strangers that make our life's even better. Hope your Turkey day was so fun. I myself feel like a stuffed Turkey!! I have talked Angela,Peggy and Isiaah and maybe Chari in going to black Friday at midnight with me!! They really are not being the chipper chickens about this!! I just wanted to let you all know that Tegan starts her radiation on Thursday of this week. She went in this morning and they sedated her and gave her some small tattoos so they know where to aim the radiation. I told Angela that when she gets to be a teen and shows and interest in tattoos they can say oh honey that's old stuff for you, you already have some on your neck!!! Chemo went okay. It was the first time since she started chemo that she got really sick. She would throw up and then she would giggle. I am pretty sure I have never thrown up and giggled!! Eric took a picture of her in a big sister T-shirt. He said that he would post it. She is going to name him Brother!! She has an in clinic chemo on Wed. We have 8 weeks of chemo left!! Well we are back in the hospital for and overnight stay for chemo. We are actually on the 3rd floor this time because chemo ward is all filled. How sad it makes me that there are so many sick kids!! On Friday we will be going up to the Huntsman Cancer center where they will set up her radiation schedule. Yes she does have to have it not because they have found anything new but because they feel that this will give her the best chance for recovery from all this. So the sleepless nights have started again as we approach another unknown. She continues to be a funny little two year old that just finds joy in everyday living!! We have had so many blessings throughout all of this and we just received one yesterday that has left us in tears. Angela is pregnant!! I think you all know that it took 5 years for them to get Tegan here. Right after Tegan was born Angela said Mom I hope I can get pregnant again and soon. I am in my thirties and would love to have a sibling for Tegan. Well nothing happened and Tegan turned 2 and they felt so blessed to be parents. Then the news of cancer and living apart and worry and "Who Knew"!!! Angela went to Pocatello for appointments and decided to see a Doctor. She had not felt well for several months but just felt that it was stress. Even taking a Pregnancy test she still would not let herself think it could be true. So yesterday the Doctor said oh its true. Kyle did and ultra sound and she is due in April . Tegans Birthday is the 17th of April and this little boy is due the 16th of April!!! Yes I said a boy. Angela comes home last night from being in Pocatello and said Mom how did this happen!!! I told her that we had this talk in Middle school but I could go over it again!!! She said mom we hardly see each other and at that hospital were not doing the hippity Dippity. Our friend Jan Hobson a few month's ago had an evening planned for the kids and got them a hotel and dinner out so I am thinking they need to give this little boy part of Jan's name!!! Thank you Jan!! Do you think Angela and Eric are going to kill me for to much information!! You know me an open book. I have shared all the scary stuff I am going to share this amazing news. When Angela told Tegan she was so happy and said his name will be Brother!! I have said over and over again that even during the hardest times we have been blessed and this is a great blessing. We ended up having a great Halloween. Tegan loved the door the door trick or treating. She would knock at the door and I would open them up and she would get a treat from me. At one door I opened it and I had a candle at my face and she did not think that was funny. She said scary bammie scary!! She did not even want to take the treat from me!! So even if we only got to trick or treat in our apartment she had fun and so did I. Tomorrow the 9th she will go back to the hospital for a day of scans. They want to see if there are any signs of cancer cells in other places. Then in another couple of weeks the specialist will decide if she needs radiation. When we found out about the cancer they said that she would have 30 weeks of chemo. We are on week 20!! She goes back in the hospital on Thursday for an overnight stay for chemo. We continue to feel your prayers each day. I still marvel at her endurance during all of this. Friday she had a platelet transfusion and was so sweet to all of the staff that set it up for her. With no platelets she had bruised so much so she wanted to show us all of her ouwies. I continue to feel everyday is a great day and we feel so thankful for all the good things that have happened during this journey. Love to all Jacque

Thanks so much to everyone who has commented on the blog . It is like you are here with us and it makes me feel so good to hear from all of you. I have been so consumed with surgery and just all the worries that I have not thanked so many form all the fund raising that has been done. I worry so that I might leave someone out so please know that is not intentional. I just want to share with all of you the amazing acts of kindness and great ideas so many have come up with to help the Salce family. Jenn is one of Angelas dear friends and she has work magic at a garage sale, a auction, and in a week a craft fair. She has had tons of helpers but she has spent hours getting things organized and I just want her and all her helpers to know we are so thankful for all you have done. Please send us pictures so we can put them in Tegans book. I was able to attend the auction and it was wonderful. One of our friends from Boise Darrel Avery made a beautiful hope chest and donated it for the auction. Darrel thank you so much for all your time . It was so beautiful. Shirley Pauole is a friend of Rogers and mine from Maryland and she has a reflecology business and she has donated money from her business. Tracy Curtis another friend from Maryland has a Tastefully Simple business and she has had parties held for Tegan and donated the proceeds from her parties to Tegan. She has sent us some of the food and it is so yummy!!! Two friends from Maryland Maureen Walker and Dottie Adroved had 2 car washes basically with there Hubby's and sent all the money to the Kids. I have been so touched by the amazing acts of service that have been given to our family. I cannot begin to thank any of you enough for what you have done but I promise you that I will spent the rest of life helping others because of all of your examples. Tomorrow is Halloween. I got Kennedy's and Tegans Princess costumes done. So fun and those are two of the cutest princesses you have ever seen!!! When Eric comes tomorrow I will have him put up new pictures. Tegan is doing great. Corey Page came by today because he knew that she could not go trick or treating so he brought her a huge pumpkin full of great candy!! Wow am I in trouble( oh did I say he brought it for Tegan) Made her a blanket with frogs brought her a stuffed frog and then another princess costume. She was so cute. A little shy with him but thankful. I tell you about this because this guy has really gone threw a very hard time recently and he does not know Tegan but he took time to hand make her a quilt and bring halloween to her. We are blessed!!! We sure do love all of you and hope that you have a very spooky and fun Halloween. I am decorating each room in the apartment different so Tegan can go from room to room to get a treat. She will at least think she is trick or treating. Love Jacque

Thanks so much Ally for the wonderful pictures and cute blog. Love you guys so much!! We hated to say goodbye to Princess Whitney. She left yesterday. We are still in the hospital and will be here until tomorrow. I stayed last night with Tegan so her parents could get some rest. She was precious and we had some great snuggle time!! I am pretty sure as time goes by I will forget all the bad stuff but I know for sure I will hold in my heart forever the times I got to lay next to her and hold her and she held me!!! I have always been a dreamer!! Daydreams and dreams at night. During this last 6 months I have not dreamed at all. Maybe because I am not sleeping much but never the less I don't have dreams. Well last night I had a dream and there was this darling dark haired girl in the distance. All of the sudden she came running into her house and she was this sassy little teenager!! You got it it was Tegan! I just wanted to share that with all of you. It felt so good to see her grown up. Her parents are here at the hospital now so I am off to make Kennedy and Tegan princess costumes for Halloween!! Its no wonder I get into trouble with my hubby I get these ideas and it ends up costing 3 times as much as if I bought it!! It is such a blast to sew for these girlie girls!!! Well guys I am crying again but this time just out of relief and the knowledge of how prayers have been answered!!! We met with the surgeon and the pathology report came back and everything came back benign!!!! The surgeons word we are amazed!!! As I got so excited he said don't do the happy dance yet as she has an aggressive kind of cancer and a lot could happen. I made it clear that even on bad days I do the happy dance so you just can't stop me with this one!!! She just got admitted for her 4 day chemo.. We thought this time she would get upset because of all she went threw with the surgery but she got out of the car and said yay yay!!! She was excited to see her Doctors and nurses. I have had a lot of requests for blue hair. I like Susan's idea about when this is over and Tegan gets to go home for good we all die our hair blue!!!!! It could be fun!! My heart is full of hope and love . Wow what an adventure life is !! Thank you, Thank you for the gift of love and friendship to our family. I am off to entertain a two year old who is stuck in bed!! I hope to have new pictures of her this weekend . Her little eyebrows have grown back and eyelashes and a little dark fuzz since she has not had chemo so here today and gone tomrrow!! We are home from the hospital and Tegan continues to amazed us with her complete this is how life is and its not so bad!!!!! She is strong and acts as though nothing happened. She is not using her left arm much but thats because it is sore and she knows that. They left out the collar bone because of where the tumor is they want a clear shot for radiation. The surgeon says that she won't miss that bone. I know I say this all the time to you but really you would not believe her. She just gets up everyday even at the hospital and just says its going to be a great day!!! She just is a two year old who love Dora and treats and babies!!!! As for us we spend alot of time walking behind her to catch her if she falls so she won 't hurt her stitches. We don't sleep good as we still have the unknown of what she will endure during radiation. Another mystery of all of this. We go back into the hospital for a 4 day stay for chemo. We were shocked but the Docs want to make sure if there were live cells they could not find with the naked eye the chemo will zap them!!! Her wound has to heal before the radiation as it will burn her and they want to make sure the incision is healed first. We are so gratiful to have the surgery behind us!!! So thankful. I caught a cold so I have been in a mask for the last few days and Tegan just loves it!!! She wants hers on so we can play. I feel fine I just don't want her to get sick before chemo. Rog left. It was hard to see him go and he was sad to leave all his girls!!! Whit leaves on Sat. We will miss her so much as she is the nail girl and Tegan loves her nails done and she is convinced Whit is the only one that can do it. I have to tell you what a funny little girl she is. She loves the movie bride wars because Kates hair turns blue!!! I think right now anyone with hair even blue just tickles her!!! During the week of surgery Shelby,Kyle,Jax,Tavin,Ally, Tyson,Kennedy,CharleneandVerda all came by to see Tegan. Families are forever. Erics mom and dad were here also!!! It has been so wonderful to receive all the comments about Tegan on the blog. We have been so moved by all the acts of kindness and your words and calls brought us strength when we felt paralyzed with fear and worry!!! How blessed are we. Yesterday was a rough day for our little girl. She was not sure why she felt so bad but the hospital staff did a great job with the pain control so she slept allot of the day. The Doctors were just in and they cannot believe how great she is healing and how strong her little body is. They are talking about getting the drain out tomorrow and letting her go home sometime in the afternoon on Friday!!! They always feel the sooner you get someone out of the hospital the better. She woke up and the first thing she wanted today is pancakes so we are excited about that!!! Yeah she feels like eating. Her incision is allot smaller than we were told it might be. They started at her earlobe and went down about 4 inches and then made a turn like an L for another 3 inches into her shoulder. The surgeons said they went down lots of lathers to get the tumor so she has allot of repair and stitches . She will be sore for awhile but again they said she is healing good. The important thing right now is for her body to get ready for the radiation. They want to do that as soon as possible to get any cells that might still be alive. This is a fast growing cancer so they want to zap it from going other places. We have learned so much threw this journey! Way more than we have ever wanted to know!!! What we do know is that even though the radiation is a mystery to us and another new step in her recovery, she will get threw this with the help of all of your prayers!! We know that is what has gotten her threw all of this. We have had so many amazing things happen during all of this because of prayers. I hope all of you really know how much you mean to us and how grateful we are to have you in our life's. I know now what the saying I am my brothers keeper really means!!! I will let you know if we leave the hospital tomorrow. The sweetest sound this morning when Tegan woke up was hi Bammie!! She says B instead of G for Grammie! Life is good! Love You Jacque

Life is a Gift

Yesterday I (Kirby)decided to break my fast with a piece of 'Dove' chocolate, one- because I was starving, and two- because the jar of chocolate pieces had been staring at me all morning! We have a jar of pink 'Dove' chocolates in honor of breast cancer awareness this month. When I went to open the chocolate I had no intention of reading the wrapper, I had forgotten that they even had little messages. For some reason I chose to read it and this is what it said, "Life is a gift. Enjoy each moment". It was the perfect message after waiting, praying, and fasting for our miracle baby. Life truly is a gift, if there is one thing we have learned from this it is to not take things for granted. Especially time with each other! By the way, Tegan continues to amaze the hospital staff with her positive attitude and speedy recovery. She is in her own room now and improving a ton!

Okay everyone I know I said 8 hours and it has been 3!!! The Surgeons came out to talk to us. Dr. Scaffe did a picture for us of what they did and we are lucky to have our son-in-law here to make sense of all of it. They said that it went very well. They were able to remove the tumor!!! They felt the surrounding areas where the tumor had been had died from the chemo. There is an area that they felt they could not justify damamging the veins and losing her arm when they did not have reason to believe there was a danger to her. So they put metal clips in her neck and they feel strongly that if there are any cells still alive the raditaion and chemo will get them. The clips are so they have a target for the radiation. They were very clear about how amazed they were that the surgery went so well, and that they did not have to be in as long as they thought it would be. It will take them an hour to close her and then she will be in ICU for overnight and then into her room. They thought it would take her a week to recuperate in the hospital and 3 weeks before radiation. They were also clear that she has a long road ahead of her but we just care that we get to travel any road with her!!! We have seen miracles all along and having the Surgeons able to get in and locate the tumor and get it out is just another miracle. You have all been part of this journey and we have been so blessed to have all of your prayers. Those Surgeons felt them. We will continue to keep you updated. Just wanted to give you a quick update. They took Tegan in for surgery at 8:00 Salt Lake time this morning. They told us it would take an hour to get her ready for surgery. They called us at 9:20 to tell us that they officially have started. Before she went back she was just so cute and the surgeons fell in love with her because she is so charming. She just melted there hearts as they talked about what was a head of her. She is truly fearless!! They told us that she will be in the operating room for about 8 hours. The three surgeons will each have a part in what they need to do. They all said we are taking our time so don't panic. To late for that advice!!!!! They will send word out to us every 2 hours so we know what they have done. Thanks so much to all of you for your prayers, love and fasting. We love you Jacque

It is official, our little girl is going in for surgery tomorrow morning. She checks in at 6 am and her surgery starts at 7:30. It is supposed to last somewhere between 3-6 hours. We have been anxious to get this day here but are all pretty nervous now that it has. Tegan is such a little trooper and if anyone can make it through this tough surgery it is her! We will be having a family fast tomorrow, feel free to join in. The more prayers the better! We will do our best to get a post up here as soon as we have an update. Thanks for all of your support!

I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to write about Tegan. We have been waiting for a surgery date and trying to have 3 surgeons work on a time has been very hard. We have a date. It is suppose to be on Tuesday the 13th of Oct. I say suppose to be because Tegan is here today in the clinic with a fever and so they are trying to figure out what is going on with her little body. I am just crying my eyes out right now and trying to pull myself together for Tegan and Angela . She has been threw so much and we have been so worried about the operation but we know for us to move forward she has to have the surgery. She has not had chemo for 4 weeks so her numbers are good. We want her strong going in so she will be okay during the surgery but if they don't do it this next week they need to get her back on chemo which pospones it again until she gets stronger. I am crying for a little girl who has been threw way more than anyone should have to endure and for my daughter who has to see her little girl go threw all of this. I am so praying that she will get better and they can do the surgery. Thanks to all of you for being my thearpy!!! We feel your strength when we are scared and sad. Tina so sorry that I did not get your message while you were here. Would have loved to have seen Haily perform. Also it would have been great to see you. I want all of you to know that your calls and visits and trying to get a hold of us when you don't know where we are half the time lifts us up and it means everything to us. I have told you often how Tegan makes me want to be a better person eachday so I wanted to share a story with you. We tryn to get her out daily for a walk when she is out of the hospital. She loves it. We have a route that she loves to go and I have seen how just a smile can change a person s life. Eachday we go by a ladies home that has tons of cats and for all of you that knowI am so afraid of cats . This woman has so many you can smell them two houses down. She seems lonely and sad and at first never made eye contact with us. She is always dressed in a bathrobe and knee highs with slippers. Tegan has made her her knew best friend. She does not care what she looks like and since Tegan has started saying hi and blowing kisses to her she watches for us eachday so she can come out and wave to Tegan. I really believe that Tegan is the only one she sees daily and that Tegan has made her feel special. She looks inside that womans heart!! I love this little girl and all that she teaches me. We wanted to let everyone know that Tegan will not be having her operation on the 22nd. This last round of chemo was alot harder on her little body and her counts have not come up yet. We are not sure but think that the next date will be on the 29th. We feel gratiful that she has another week to get stronger. Her platlets are still to low. Everything eles is good though so we are thankful about that. Rog came in on Friday and the Salces and whit came yesterday. She is so thrilled to have new faces to show all her tricks to. All of them of course are thrilled to watch them. As Rog would say I am so glad I have some extra days with her before she has the operation!!! Thanks so much for everyone who went to the temple yesterday. We went also and we felt all of your prayers. We want all of you to know how much you mean to us. Everyday we say how gratiful we are to have you in our lifes and cannot imagine going threw this without all of you. Not one day passes that someone does something so amazing in our families behalf. I still cry about and feel so humbled by all the love and prayers. Well luckily he still thought I was cute!!! Love is blind!!! I miss all of you, think of you and pray for you. Temple Saturday

I know this is a little last minute, but we are trying to get as many people possible to attend the temple this Saturday on Tegan's behalf. Most of you know that her surgery is this Tuesday so we are pushing extra hard for thoughts and prayers for Tegan. She is such a little fighter. We need her to be extra strong for the next few days so she will be healthy enough for the surgery. If you could pass this message along that would be really great. Words cannot begin to express the gratitude our family feels to each and every one of you. You really have comforted us and given us that extra strength when times seemed too tough to bare. We love and appreciate you more than you will ever know!

Tegan Visit!!

Look at that precious darling face!! I just got back from Denver (Shelby) so we went up to the hospital to visit with our little girl. She was so excited about seeing the boys. She just kept rubbing Jaxon's leg, she wanted the boys to get up on her bed to watch Shrek, and she cried when we had to leave. She got to come home on Sunday and since the boys were a little under the weather we didn't want to risk getting her sick. We were sad we had to go but beyond excited we got to see her even for a little while. We kidnapped Grammie for a few hours so Ang and Eric could have a little time. We let the boys play and went to dinner. It was so fun so thanks mom!

These girls are the strongest people I know. As I get into the hospital room Tegan is all smiles and so happy with every tube possible hooked up to her chest, yet you wouldn't ever know it because she just loves life. She used to be this shy timid little princess and now she is best friends with any and everyone and tells every nurse or doctor thank you after they have done another procedure.

It constantly amazes me how strong mom and Ang are. Don't get me wrong there are many tears and heartache involved but they stay so positive. This whole experience for each and everyone of us has changed us forever. I have faith Tegan is going to be with us for a very very long time. As I snuggled in bed with her and she rubbed my face and gave me kisses, I could only pray to my Heavenly Father that we can and will do the same thing the night before her wedding. Snuggled up together and talking about how far she has come. I know I will have that experience with her. I have to know because life would not be life without Tegan in it. Love to everyone and Ang and mom, I look up to you both more than you know and aspire to be just like you when I grow up. Thanks for the fun visit. Love you. We are back for a four day round of chemo and this is the 2nd day finished and she has done amazing. Such a little trooper. I sleep with her while we are in the hospital and last night will be one of those moments that will be etched in my heart forever!! She could not go to sleep so I would turn my back to her and she would wait and then before I new it she had her arms around me and then she had crawled over me then I was getting the most kisses and she would say love you grammie only she says it with a b so its bammie!!! The trick is she is hooked up to a bunch of tubes that come out of her chest. So we would untangle and laugh and Angela would shooch us and then we would lay real still and it would all start again!!! At 11:30 she finally fell to sleep with her little hand on my hand and I thought how blessed I am!!! Dr. scaffe the surgeon who has been reviewing her case came and talked to Ang. They will be operating on the 22nd of Sept. We will be here at Primaries in Salt Lake. They have found a nerve specilist and a neck specialist. All 3 Doctors will be in there and doing the operation. This is what we have been praying for that the tumor would shrink enough so they could operate but I have to be honest now that it is here we are freaking out!!! She seems so little to endure all that they have to do to get the cancer out. We have faith in Dr. Scaffe and his team. Dr. Scaffe is the Doctor who did her biobsy when she first got here. We know we have all of your prayers. Roger gets here on the 18th of Sept. and Erics parents are coming on the 19th. Whit is also flying in so as you tell we will have a small army waiting for her. After the operation we will continue when she is stronger with the radiation and the chemo. She was on the 36 week plan so that will be the end of Jan. I want you to know even as I write these posts I still find it hard to believe that we are here and that Tegan has cancer. Life just happens does it not and with that being said we endure things that we never could image. You know me forever chatty so I have visited with lots of parents here in the chemo ward it makes me always think how precious eachday is with everyone not just someone that is sick. It makes me want to tell all of you eachday how much you mean to me. How you really have made my life so wonderful. We truly don't know any of us what each new day has in store for us but we have the faith that we have eachother to help us get threw lifes challenges and that God does answer prayers. FUNDRAISER IN MARYLAND

I truly don't even know where to start about this amazing fundraiser. Tanya Hughes as soon as she heard about Tegan she had a vision. The stories I have been told is that she took an idea and ran with it. She even told Roger that she started noticing people hiding from her(ha). What we know is that Tanya and her angels worked day and night getting this fundraiser organized and ready for August 22nd. Tanya has a list for us with all of your names that gave of your time, money, sleep, and energy to have this be such a huge success. I know all of you donated things and then bought things while you were helping man the sale. Suz thank you so much for the pictures and the letter that gave us all the details about the true miracles that happened that day. I don't want to leave anyone out by not mentioning you all by name but I so want to express how full our hearts are right now and how we truly feel like you all are angels. We have shed many tears over these last few months,but these tears right now are those of pure graitude. We feel so blessed that you all have supported our family with your service and prayers. I wished that I could bring everyone of you dinner!!! Roger could not get over how 30 people were there at 4;30 AM and it was pouring rain. Then the power of prayer and the miracles began. I want all of you to know that we have felt your prayers and love and it lifts us up daily. Rog could not say enough about how whole families that helped. He said the world should see the youth in Waldorf and they would know our country was in good hands. The pictures are so funand it made us feel apart of the event. We could not believe all the donations of amazing treasures. Then with all the bad weather reports the prayers were answered again and the people came and they shopped. The food that all of you made looked so great. I also know that many people helped and made donations that don't even know us. Thank you all so much. You have all changed our lifes forever. Walking into the hospital for Chemo. It is important to accessorize..

Kirby here. I got a bonus trip to SLC! The last time I was in town was when Tegan was her sickest. It was so great to see her acting like her normal outgoing two year old self. I was able to be there for two different doses of chemo and a blood transfusion, sounds fun doesn't it... Well trust me, Tegan is one tough little cookie and none of it phased her! As usual we all cried more than she did. The most traumatic part for her was when we were leaving the hospital, after six hours mind you, and she had to leave the grocery cart she had been playing with. It broke our hearts, we are on the hunt for a shopping cart for her now!

They bring these animals into the hospital to cheer up the kids. She loves seeing the dogs, but not quite as much once they get close to her. She was gripping me pretty tight here...

All tuckered out during her blood transfusion.

It is still hard to see her without hair (her eye lashes and eyebrows are going too) and a little more frail. But it is good to know that so far the treatments they are giving her are working. We are STILL waiting to here when and where her surgery will be. It has been confirmed that it will be out of the State. They are looking for a very specific specialist who can perform surgery so close to her vital nerves in her chest area. Of course there are mixed feelings. Traveling across the country is less then ideal, but at the end of the day we want Tegan to get the best care available. We were told that they would give us 7-10 days notice before the surgery. Not very long when you are talking about possibly traveling across the country! We will be sure to relay any information as soon as we get it.

Can you tell she likes having her picture taken? If only you could see pictures of her mom at this age...You would see where she gets it!

As for now Tegan's days are filled with feeding the ducks at the park, going to the zoo, playing with her kitchen, going for walks around the neighborhood, and trying on ALL of my shoes! Besides her mask and missing hair, she looks and acts like a very normal two year old. She is such a doll baby and makes friends everywhere she goes. The nurses cannot get over how sweet she is and how cooperative she is with all the procedures. I swear she is going to be a nurse or a doctor when she grows up! It was such a great trip and every chance you have to spend with that sweet girl is a special one. Thanks for continuing to keep her, and the rest of our family in your prayers. We are so appreciative for all of you!!

Home from the hospital

I am so sorry that it has been so long since we have updated the blog. We do not have a computer at home and it is hard to get on the computer at the hospital because they are always being used are not working . So today I got on and with the help from Kirby I got to where I needed to post. My to do list for when Tegan is cancer free is to take a computer course!!!! Tegan was in the hospital on thursday for her overnight chemo and we were released friday afternoon. She did so great. The new medicine for antinausua has really helped her so we are blessed. I have a whole list of great blessings to share with you. The chemo can hurt lots of good things so they test her every so often to see how it is affecting her body. She had her hearing test and her eco test and both showed she is doing great and no damage so far. Yeh and Yeh!!! I really never said much to any of you of what they were having Angela and Eric go threw because of the kind of cancer it was. They told them that there could be a chance that it was genetic. The thought was so devasting on top of the news that she had cancer but to think as parents it could be because of you it was truely unbearable. They did the test they needed to and we got the results and it was not the genetic kind. It had nothing to do with the blood.!!! Thank you heavenlyfather!! They don't know if they will be blessed with other children someday but now they know if they can have other children there genetic make up is okay. We have had many ups threw all of this and many downs. While we were at the hospital there was a code blue on our floor and the little child passed away. You mourne so hard for this family as we live with fear daily. No matter what each of our believes are and our relationship with Jesus and God death is hard. They told us sometime this week we will get to talk with the surgeon and Doctor about when they will operate. They did tell us that no matter what they decide they will still do Chemo and radition still for the 30 weeks. We are now on week 14!!! So almost half way. She continues to inspire everyone she meets and she makes us laugh everyday at her out look. She truly is way older in spirit than two. Many people told us in the beginning of all this that we would get use to the routine. Well we are not used to and will probaly never get use to this but we have found that we are more confident in our care for her. We flush the line, give the shots administer the meds and try our best to let her be a little girl. Our home health nurse once told us guys she is not a TV don't watch her!!! We got to take her to the zoo this week before chemo her numbers we high enough. She had her doll stroller and pushed her baby all over the zoo. She kept her mask on the whole time and people would pass by and say as they walked by oh so sad she has cancer. I watch Tegan as she said
hi to everyone and had enough energy to walk the whole zoo. She was not sad a bit just happy to be at the zoo. We continue to be gratiful for eachday with her. We truly are the lucky ones in the family because we are with her. Whit got to be here a week and then Ty, Ali, and Kennedy came overnight to see us. It means everything when her numbers are high enough for her to see family!!! Thanks so much guys for taking the time to do it. We have had several friends come to see us even if they have to meet us downstairs cause Tegan has low numbers . Its so fun to get those hugs. The cards, gifts, donations just keep coming and it brings us to tears eachtime we hear from all of you. I have filled up 4 scrapebooks of cards that all of you have sent to us and I have wrote about each of you cause I believe someday Tegan will be cancer free and I want her know all that you did for her. Thank you for the prayers. As you can tell from our good news they are working. I want to give a shout out to my niece and her future hubby. They get married In the Boise Temple next week on the 22nd. We are there in spirit you cute kids and we will be at your open house when you come down hear in Utah!!! Ben and Nate we love you guys!!! Wish I could shake my bootie at your dance well now that I think about it I will say actully lately my bootie has grown a bit and it shakes without dancing!!!! When I start to write I write a book and I am sorry for the long book. We sure do miss all of you. So many of you are working your tails off raising money for the Tegan fund and there are no words to express our thanks for all the fund raising that has been done in our behave. Wonderful fundraiser

I wanted to share with all of you some pictures of a wonderful fund raiser that was done for Tegan in Maryland. I have an exercise buddy there named Ida who has three of the greatest kids that are grown and have families of their own. When they found out what was going on Ida's daughter Nadia called and told me the beauty salon that she works at wanted to do a fund raiser for Tegan. I still get a lump in my throat when I think that all of Nadias co-workers were as happy to give of their time and their money to do this for this little girl. These are pictures Nadia sent to us so I wanted to share some of them with all of you . I wished I had everyones names so I could thank you all personally for the Love, Prayers, time, and hard work you did for our family. Roger went over after church and met all of the ladies. He said they made him cry with all they were doing for Tegan. They donated all the money that they made that day at the salon. They advertised, got family members involved, and brought food to share. I am forever humbled by this act of kindness. I have said this over and over again how my heart is so full and I want to be the same kind of person you all are to give so much of yourselves. Many of you have never even met us but I want you to know you are forever friends. Nadia thank you so much for coming up with this idea and for all of your friends and family that did so much. Rog said Ida your meat balls were the bomb!!! Thanks for sharing all the pictures. We wished we could of been there. Tegan had chemo on thursday. It was the one where we go to the clinic and they do it there. She did great. It is also the kind that makes her so sore but does she complain, oh no she just moves a little slower. We came to Idaho for a few days so she could see her room and her toys and just be in her own yard! Her dad made her crib into a big girls bed and she was thrilled. It is Angela's and Eric's anniversary this weekend so Ang was so excited to be home as well. It had been 2 months since we had been back with Tegan. The doctor said go while her numbers were high because who knows what next week will bring. She goes in for another in clinic chemo. She still amazes us each day at how strong she is through the treatments.

HI everyone I just wanted to write a quick thank-you as well to Nadia and all the other hairstylists that donated their time and money to our family for Tegan. She is responding well to the treatment and we appreciate all your love and prayers. I will be forever changed by the support we've felt. I wake up every morning grateful that the Lord has blessed me with Tegan. My love for her grows everyday. She is learning to say new words everyday and she wakes up ready to take on the challenges of the day with such strength and courage. Thank you again for all the ways you're trying to help our family. My mom mentioned that we came home for a few days and there were a group of anonymous people that I need to thank for installing an air conditioner in our home and car so Tegan could come home more often. You're angels on earth and we so appreciate the time and supplies you donated to our family. We love you all.

Great News

We just got done talking to the Doctor. After 3 days of scans we fianlly got the word about what has been happening during all the chemo. The doctor said that the cancer has not gone in any other part of her body at this time and that the tumor has gotten smaller. In other words the chemo is doing its job!!!! We have tears streaming down our faces and our hearts are full at the thought that all she has been threw that it is doing the job. The Doctor made it clear that she will still have to follow the road map(treatment schedule) that they have for her so there will still be monthes of chemo and radiation but it is so great to know that it is making a difference. In two weeks they will address when they want to remove the tumor!!! She is having chemo as we speak or I should say they are getting her ready so we are in the hospital now for a day. When we drove up today and she clapped and said yeh!! I told Ang we have to adopt her attitude!! Needless to say we feel so blessed and this is the first good news we have had since April 30th when we were told she had cancer. Angela said mom putting her threw this has been so hard but if she can get better I really can do this. Thank you Thank you for your prayers, love and thoughts we feel them. A friend sent her a new hat and purse she had made her with a matching outfit and she had to wear it today to the hospital and everyone stopped her to say she was so cute. She said thank you and showed them her purse she has her little mask on so she won't get there germs and off she went all dressed for chemo. I will get Eric to put a picture of her in her new outfit so you can all see her ready for the day. I marvel at how she brightens everyones days. Someone said its so great that she is so little and really does not know what is in store but she has been in and out of the hospital and I am telling you she knows what she has to go threw she just chooses to be happy about it. She is amazing!!! There was a family waiting in the same place as we were waiting for one of Tegans scans and they were crying she goes over to them and she drops off the s of sad and said don't be ad. She got them a tissue. So then she had to get me one because I was now crying and I thought I am so lucky to be here with you. She teaches me something new each day. Her latest 2 year old thing is that when her mom is telling her she cannot do something she puts her finger up to her lips and shushes her!!! Now I am not going to lie I am sure that Angela has wanted to shush me a few times Ha!!! We sure do love all of you and are so thankful for you Love Jacque, Angela and Tegan

Taking Care of the Care Taker!

I'm so happy to report we got to spend some time with Ang this weekend, it was so great to see our long lost friend! I know she's going through so much and it was great to see her smile and laugh and have a good time. Carin and I went down to Salt Lake Sunday and took Ang to Park City, we went to a really hot Mexican restaraunt -- hot as in sweat pouring off your face, where in the world is the AC hot. What's with Park City places not having AC, not fun. We walked around and then decided to take a walk down memory lane for Carin in Provo, lots of fun to see her old stomping grounds and meet her family. Granny's in Heber has delicious shakes, by the way...

Ang--we love you and can't wait for the next girls day!

Relay for Life was in Pocatello last weekend, we did a luminary bag for Tegan (thank you Danielle). I was able to go take a couple of laps and it was AMAZING, I can't wait to be more involved next year. What a humbling experience.

Last, but not least...

thank you thank you thank you to Dr. D's in Pocatello! This is an auto repair shop, who was willing to take the time to look at and fix the AC in the Salce's car. They have been using Whitney's car to get around with AC which would be totally unbearable to go without! We made a couple of cars and Dr. D's said they'd be happy to help. Eric drove to SLC Friday minus the usual wet back! So, thank you again! What a great community we live in!

This is Jacque with an update. This week on Tuesday Tegan will be an out patient for her scans. She will have 3 days of scans. They will redo all the brain, bone, kidney and full body scans. They have told us that the results will follow pretty fast.

Thursday afternoon she will go in for one over night stay for a chemo treatment. We are scared and hopeful that the chemo is working and that the tumor is getting smaller. We are so thankful for your prayers and hope that you will say an extra prayer for this week. She got threw the last chemo so good. Her numbers have been so low but Thursday they were up so we are so thankful.

Angela and I went to Pocatello yesterday for Whits play. Eric came on Friday night and we left after flushing Tegans line on Sat. morning. We had a hard time leaving her it was the first time since we found out about the cancer that we have left her. We got to see the other kids and grand babies and Tegan had a blast with her dad. Whit did a great job. She rode back with us to spend time with Tegan for the day. Her and Eric will head back tonight. We had such fun with all the kids and Angela was excited to see her house. I have to tell all of you its hard to do things without her and not feel so guilty. She would have loved to see her cousins aunts and uncles so much.

She is so amazing how even on the days she is so sore she can hardly walk she gets up with a smile. I cannot say enough thank yous to all of you for all you have done for our family. Each act of kindness has been so amazing. From fund raisers to cards, letters and calls, donations gifts prayers and thoughts. You have all changed our life's forever.

They have a church service up at the hospital on Sundays so that is where we go to church. You have never been in a service like that. There all all these children with IV poles and masks sitting with there parents praying for the same thing good health, a strong body. The opportunity to go home and just be a kid again. I look around with tears streaming down my cheeks and I pray that they have family, friends,and even new friends that we have never met that are there for them like all of you are there for us.

Without you this would truly be unbearable. We continue to pray for a miracle. We still have the motto that each day is a great day with Tegan!!! As soon as we get the results back from the scans I will send you the news. We love you and miss you Jacque, Angela and Tegan.

Always Important to Match!!

Another big round of Chemo is over and the little princess is doing great. Her little body is very sore but she has been happy and been reacting a lot better. Sometime soon the doctors will evaluate Teg. and see how her tumor is reacting to the treatment. We are all hopeful and know our prayers are being answered. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Well here we are. This is Jacque wishing you all a wonderful 4th of July. Tegan is in the hospital for another 5 days of Chemo. She has done amazing so far. They have given her a new med that is to help with the throwing up and we are on our 3rd dose and so far so good. Someone from Pocatello read the blog and had a young son who had this and she said it worked so thank you for the info !!! She gets real sore from the chemo just achy so bless her heart she does not even want to be held!!

Eric got here today and brought several gifts from all of you and letters and donations and it was just so fun. Thank you all so much for remembering us and for brightening this little girls day. We have taken several great pictures so Eric will load them on the computer tomorrow. We received sunglasses and dresses and hats and shoes all in red white and blue!! Also decorations so I got to decorate the room. Very fun!! We got to take Tegan out for a walk and she wore everything to include her mask yes she did Uncle Sam proud!!!

She is such a funny little girl she makes us laugh daily and really charms all the doctors. She tells them where to check and where to listen on her. I am lifted up daily at her positive attitude in such a hard time. We have made a positive jar and each day we put something positive in it. Like today Tegan got to go for a walk. Little steps that we are so grateful for. I put in that I am so grateful that I can be here with Tegan and Angela and that I have such a good husband who has made it so easy for me to be here with them.

We are especially grateful this day for our country!! For the freedom that we have. Most of all for the soliders who defend this wonderful land we love. For all the sacrifices they make in our behalf. Our family got to follow one of those soldiers around for 27 years and because of that career choice we have been blessed to know all of you!! What a great life we have had in the military and now as civilians!

After this chemo treatment they are going to do the scans over again to see if the chemo is making some changes. So if all of you could pray for that the chemo is doing its job .We sure would be grateful.. . I want to be a better person because of all of you. Like the movie "Pay it Forward", I will work the rest of my life to do acts of kindness for those in need. I am humbled by all of you . It brings tears to my eyes to see all of the love for this precious little girl. You truly are angels and we love you all!!

Hello to All...This is Shelby and we just spent about 24 hours with Teg, Ang, Eric, Mom, AND DAD!! Dad is there for about 10 days and it is so great to see him. I brought the boys this time so they could see their little sister sister (Teg), best friend (Ang), Best buddy forever (grandpa), and best grammie. The boys always do this Tegan dance for her and I think it was weird for them to not see her laugh. This was the first time I have really seen Teg sick. As we finished cleaning up her throw up and getting clean pajamas and all 5 adults running around putting things in the laundry, vacuuming, getting the boys out of the way, I took Teg out on the patio and as she laid her frail body on my shoulder all I could do was cry, because it was such a realization of how horrible this situation is. Later that night I was sitting on the bed with Ang as she was putting away more of the generous gifts from all of you and she didn't shed a tear as I was a basket case. And she said "Shelb, what are my options here. I will do whatever I have to to have her survive this, but if it were me at this stage of seeing the horrible effects, I would rather die. It is that bad."

I only blog about these things because I learned something on this trip. Not only that my mom and sister are the strongest people I know and how they are staying so strong is beyond me... but more so that my priorities need a reality check...I like so many people, get so caught up on the tedious everyday craz we are all in that I don't really just enjoy my children and life. Where I get frustrated because the kiddos make a mess or they say mom a million times a day, Ang and Eric would give anything for those small things. Where I am thinking about what to make for dinner they are hoping Teg just eats something, and more so she keeps it down. The simplicities of life we all take for granted are such milestones for this amazing family and strong little girl.

Though the tears are always on deck for me, I am growing and learning through this experience. You can't help but feel guilty about having the normalcy's of life yet Ang and mom long for those stories to help them through their days. As I watch my boys sleep at night I look at them differently now. I look at life differently, and most importantly as I have always looked up to Ang and mom I now have them on a pedestal forever. I am a better person because they are in my life, and I could not be more proud of how they are handling this roller coaster ride.

They love all of you so much and are so grateful for all you have done. Thanks for the prayers, and mom, Ang, Dad, and Teg. I love you all so much and miss you more than you know.

This is Jacque giving you the latest update on our little
Tegan. She is back in the hospital. We left on tuesday and for the next 3 days she could not hold down a thing to eat and she also had bad diarrhea. She got so dyhydrated that they put her back in the hospital Friday and have been giving her fluids to help her get stronger. This was not caused by the chemo. She has the rotavirus that is common in children but with her low immune system she cannot fight it alone. Her white blood cells were 800 when we came in and they have dropped to 300. They should be above 2000. She is doing so much better today so they are seeing what she can keep in her on her own and then she could go home. She has been so sore from the chemo it makes everything ache that she didn't want us to hold her. With little kids they can't have alot for pain so they just endure it. I have thought about the fact that I have had dear friends go through chemo and my dad. I never realized the true agony that they go through while they are fighting for their life. We had some wonderful news though. Dr. Wright is the Dr. that first saw Tegan when she was diagnoised with the cancer. She examiined her friday and said the tumor 0n her neck has really gone down. Our prayers are that this awful poison is doing its job. So as we sit with this sick little girl we pray that she can keep strong to continue the treatments. Thanks to all of you for those prayers. They are working and we feel them. Our favorite day has become Sat. as Eric brings us the mail and your cards and gifts for tegan just sustain us and we feel your love . Your calls, friendship ,meals for Rog and treats you have dropped of to Roger mean everything. He is here now and he brought Tegan jewelery that lights up and she had to wear it all day. You got to love a girl who dresses up for Chemo!!! Kirby was here for a few days to help while we were in the hospital. Thanks cutie!! Funny Kirby story she stayed with Tegan so Ang and I could run an errand we get a call from her and she says do you have scissors and I said yes and she said I need to surgcally remove her onesie she and a major blow out in her pants!! Life in the Hospital

Well this is Jacque blogging because Kirby is here and shows me how to do this, so bear with me. Angela, Tegan, and I have been in the hospital since Thursday and it is now Sunday. Eric came last night so he and his little family stayed together and I went back to our apartment. My heart hurts for Eric as he has to be away from his girls during this hard time and just sees them on the weekend. I know it is hard for him.

I feel so blessed to be with these girls. They are so amazing and I feel like I learn something new each day about enduring through a hard time. This week has been a roller coaster of emotions, tests and scares. First on Tuesday Tegan had to go to the Unversity hospital to have a Kidney test to make sure her Kidneys were ready for four days of chemo. They put radioactive medicine in her and then we came back for several blood tests to make sure they were okay. We got her home and Tegan got a fever. The worst thing that can happen while on chemo is a fever because it can mean infection. So off to the emergency room we went. Trey and Whit were here with us so we all loaded up and they immedaitly got us in and started tests. This brave little 2 year old went through things no one should have to endure. After hours we were sent home and they postponed the chemo for a day. The doctors felt strongly that she was early in her treatment and needed to get started so we were admited on Thursday at 1:oo.

She had been throwing up and dehydrated so it took until 3:00 the next morning before they could start the first of four days of chemo. Before we went to the hospital my brother Bill and his friend were in Utah and they came and gave a blessing to Tegan. She did not move and the blessing was so great. Thank you both so much for coming and doing that! She got really sick on Friday. Saturday she was so sore which is a side effect and today she has slept less and been so cute. She is so glad to have her dad here. Uncle Bill bought her a farm from him and aunt peggy. She loves it because it talks. So fun. She has not been able to get out of bed or leave her room since Thursday so 4 days!

This little two year old has been so precious. I want to cry and she just lays there and says sweet things to the doctors and nurses. Her favorite toys now are syringes and hospital masks. She reminds everyone to put on gloves and make sure that they don't have a bubble in the medicine they put in her line. She humbles us daily at her strong spirit and positive attitude. I want to let all of you know that we feel your love and prayers daily. The cards and packages that you have sent have made this little girls day. You make us feel so grateful. We have been so touched by the outpouring of love from family, friends and strangers who have contacted us.

I want to say a special thank you to Jenn and Carin and all of those who helped for the fund raiser for a Mircle for Tegan. How wonderful was that. My brother Phil and his famiy came from Boise to just spend money in Tegans behalf on Saturday. Thank you guys so much!! All of our chidren were there to help set up and work the sale. We love you guys and miss you. Thank you for your support and for being who you are. Your dad and I are so thankful for each of you. Your sister loves you to death . This journey is just starting but each day that we are with her we feel is a great day. Roger will be here on Friday for a week. I cannot wait to see him( I plan to jump him) too much information!!! Some things will never change.

As we have been here at the hospital this week I have seen so many parents who are so scared because their kids are so sick. Your heart goes out to all of them It's just so hard. We want all of you to know that yes our hearts are broken right now to see this little girl go through so much, but our spirits are strong because of all of you and all you have done . I can't begin to express my gratitude for the love and generosity we've received. There are days when the load is strong and I feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders. Your prayers and love are what gets me through. Thank-you again for all that you do. We love you. Fundraising Success!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend a success! We were able to raise over $2400!! YAY!! What a great community--way to show up for us everyone and thanks to all who helped make this happen, we couldn't have done this without you. I'm also so grateful for all of the media coverage we've had to help us advertise, thank you all!! I can't stop with the thank you's--amazing. I also have to say how awesome it was that although we were supposed to have out-of-control weather this weekend, we were blessed enough to be able to sell and stay out as long as we did! How great that we have a loving Father in Heaven to help us when we need it. I am so grateful also for all of the Christ-like people I have met through this all, you all amaze me and I'm a better person for having helped with this.

Our next fundraiser we're planning was going to be a benefit dinner, now we're thinking more along the lines of an ice cream social (free to all) and silent auction. We have a $1500 bike donated by Barrie's Ski and Sports, The Mystique has said they would participate. We have a limo service with $60 for Red Lobster, a $275 clock from Molinelli's Jewelers, a designer handbag and designer jewelry, gift certs for a chiropractic eval--x-rays, exam and adjustment and a 1 hour massage, gift certs for spas, nails, $100 carpet cleaning, $100 exterior window cleaning and soooooo much more, so keep checking for updates, we'll get them up as soon as they become available, tell your friends and family and we'll see you soon for more fundraising for this special family! voila, welcome to the "Feel Good Fundraiser"--in today's world there is too much to feel bad about and supporting the Salce's is something we can really feel good about, also exercise makes some of us feel good, so Gold's Gym in Chubbuck is opening up to anyone who wants to come exercise Saturday June 13th, all you need to do to get in is give a little donation, even if it's a penny! Also, there is a local carwash and indoor shooting range offering the same bargain, if you give a donation, the service is yours free! Isn't that so great, people like him are what makes this so great! We can't do anything about the economy, so why worry about it, we can do something for Tegan and that's something to worry about and then feel good about. Serving others is what makes our own lives better, thanks Salce family for letting me serve you, it has blessed my life.

Miracle for Tegan Fundraiser

Hi, this is Ang's friend Jenn. We (myself and some of Ang's close friends) have started fund raising for the Salce family. Our community has been amazing. I haven't had anyone turn me down when I've asked for help. This little girl is truly blessed and so many want to help where they can. So, I'll let you all know about our "Miracle for Tegan" Fundraiser.

We have had so many big ticket items, we will be having a benefit dinner, planned for August 21, at 6:30. We are still finalizing the details but so far we have been given donations from Life of Riley Limousine Services, Cielo Su Terra Day Spa, Johnson Family Chiropractic, Treasure's, Molinelli's Jewelers, and Red Lobster and plan to have an auction. We are still asking for donations for this event.

Tickets will be sold at the garage sale, starting at 8 AM on Friday and Saturday. I'm trying to get booths up in the mall at Deseret Book and Walmart, so we'll see...
Tickets are $1 for the raffle or 6 for $5.

I am going to attempt to write a blog and let all of you know how grateful we are to all of you. your prayers, love, cards, and gifts have been such blessings. We feel you with us on this journey and without all of you it would be unbearable.

Let me tell you what an amazing Love story I have witnessed with Eric, Angela and Tegan!!! I feel so blessed to be here with them. Tegan has become my hero. She gets up eachday with a smile and ready for whatever treatment is instore. Yesterday was a reality we were not prepared for. In a matter of a day she lost all of her hair. As I watched my child hold her child and handfuls of hair coming out, and tears streaming down Angelas cheeks I just could hardly bear it. It is very hard to see the effects the chemo is having on her body but with that being said we know that before she can get better she will have some hard days. Tegan does not care about the missing hair. She likes her hats.

This week she goes back on Wed for outpatient chemo. Then next week she will go in the hospital for 4 days. It has been a month since we found out about the cancer. What I have learned, that I think I knew, is that eachday is a gift. Our goal it to make each day a great day and if that means we get up really early and go to a park so Tegan can swing because she can't be around other kids, or find a stream so she can dangle her feet in the water cause she can't swim or bath like we can, (she can't get her central line wet) then thats what we do. I hope I will never wait to tell a loved one or friend what they mean to me. As I watch this strong, funny little girl go through so much I don't want to miss a moment. I don't want to complain about my jiggly thighs and sagging boobs!!!!! Who cares. As I am with her outside in the early morning I have never noticed how still it is or how fresh the air is. She is amazing!

Whitney and Trey canceled their wedding. Angela wanted them to have it but they wanted to have them there. So for now as Whit said, our focus is getting Tegan well. I want them and Treys family to know we know this was hard and we look forward to a great fun wedding in the future. See why I don't write more often its either a book or sermon!!! We love you all and I mean that! I have been so touched by all of your kindness. Our motto is each day is a great day!!!!!

Hello Hello.... So Tegan will go back in for another round of Chemo on Wednesday. Funny Story, one of the side effects of Tegan's last treatment was insomnia. Well the other night she was experiencing just that. Lets just say all the girls had a slumber party. Ang thought Tegan was asleep (she had put her in bed with her...) so she tip toed to the bathroom leaving all the lights off not wanting to wake anyone. While she was going to the bathroom her little sidekick had snuck into the bathroom in the dark without Ang knowing and said "HI" Ang started screaming and Tegan started crying, and you can only imagine what mom was doing at this point. It is a good thing to find a little humor in this craziness of life right now.

What else is new... Tegan has started to lose her hair which is a good and sad sight. Good to know the chemo is working on those bad cells but hard to have such a visual on the reality of this disease. It takes its toll on everyone. Everyone continues to be optimistic and trust in the doctors and in Heavenly Father. I know Ang, Eric, Teg, and the rest of the family feel of every ones love, prayers, and support so thank you.

Eric got there yesterday and will stay until Monday night. Tegan was so thrilled to see her dad. Hopefully Ang and Eric will go out on a date and the girls can get out on the town with some friends. Love to all!!

Good News!!

Great news to report. So far Tegan has responded well with the second dose of chemo. Also no more shots for this week because her white blood cell count is up!!! Yeah. She went for a walk with mom and Ang and got out and walked 5 blocks including squats and lunges with the girls... What a dolly!! Too fun. Everyone else is hanging in there too. Mom and Ang are the best nurses and have such positive attitudes. Thanks to all and more to come...

Another Treatment Down!!

So today was a crazy day. First let me back up a little. This is Shelby by the way... I had the opportunity to go to SLC this last weekend to spend some time with my special girl Tegan. She was doing awesome. What a trooper. She takes medications like it is a fruit drink and gets a shot everyday that we all cry more than she does. She is so happy and I really felt like she was using her left arm more than I have seen in a long time.

I was able to take Ang and mom out for a few hours while Eric stayed with Tegan. (Thanks again Eric.) It was nice since right now they are pretty home bound. They will go on drives but one has to stay in the car since Tegan can't be in busy public places. They are so creative with keeping busy though. They take lots of walks, play cards and other games, scrapbook, look at magazines, play anything Tegan wants, and mostly be together. They are quite the group.

It was so fun being there and waking up every morning to this sweet girl taking my hand and telling me, "Mere, Belbe, Mere." It doesn't get much better than that. Beating Ang and Mom the first night in Rummy was pretty great too. We won't talk about the rest of the evenings and who won and lost, (They cheat!!)...

About Teg. Good news and bad news. We will start with the good... So far the treatment is going well and the doctors are very positive about how the treatment is going to this point. She is responding well to the meds. and chemo, and for the most part adjusting well to all the shots, and other side treatments too. Also they checked her platelets and they were where they needed to be. Bad news is that her white blood cells are LOW, very low. They are suppose to be in the 2000 range and Tegan's were 100. This makes infections and other things out there very scary. The doctors continue to have Ang and mom give her shots that are suppose to help and they will continue to keep her away from big crowds. Her Chemo today went well. They are home in their apartment now and resting.

So what is next... They will have a few days off. Let Teg. recover. Mom and Ang will take turns every 2 hours changing Tegan's diapers and hope tomorrow Tegan won't be as sick as she was with the 1st treatment.

One Tough Cookie

Tegan has survived her first day of what will be several daily shots. Besides a few "ow's" we did not hear a peep out of her. The nurse came to the apartment tonight just to make sure Ang and Mom were ready for their responsibility. She obviously was not at the hospital yesterday when they were practicing. Our hospital nurse, Betsey, came in to "train" them on all the at home care they will be doing. I knew that was going to involve needles which I am SO not okay with. I chose to take that time to update the blog and stay away for as long as possible. Unfortunately I got back just in time to see my mom sticking Betsey in the arm with a syringe, yikes! Right after she finished Ang was getting geared up for her turn. That is when she turned to me and asked if I could be her practice subject. I had to look around the hospital room because I knew there was no way she was asking her little sister who is deathly afraid of needles, and who traveled all over the world to be there with her...to let her give her a shot in the arm! After closing my eyes, turning my head the opposite direction, and letting out a few squeals we made it through.I know, I am a totally wuss...I would never deny that! But let's be honest, nobody told me I would be given SHOTS while being here!! Let's just say Tegan is a pro and I cannot believe how she has been able to endure this ordeal.

Baby girl has been so happy today. We were pretty scared to leave the hospital yesterday but it really has been so much better to have her home. We couldn't get over what a happy girl she was today, and that was after being woken up every two hours to get her bum changed (the first 48 hours after having a chemo treatment they don't want the toxins in her bodily fluids hurting her little bum. You actually have to wear gloves and everything to protect yourself. It was pretty cute today when she was taking care of her baby and wanted to change her diaper. She brought over some latex gloves to put on before she started. She is so smart, and so aware of what is going on around her!).

Mom, Ang, and I managed to have a little time together while Eric and Tegan had a little daddy daughter time. Imagine our surprise when we returned home to find Eric painting Tegan's toenails! It was pretty sweet and she was beyond excited to show us her fingernails too, including her super sore finger that she refused to let him skip over. When her nails were done she grabbed her pink purse and she was ready to go! She is SO a Munns girl!

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I head home tomorrow and will post some other fun ones from the weekend and not so fun ones from the hospital. Dad made it home safe and sound, and Eric and I leave tomorrow. Don't worry though, this is when having a bunch of siblings comes in handy. Shelby will be here this weekend and Whitney will be here in a few weeks. Not to mention the fact that Mom and Ang are pro's and are going to have no problem holding down the fort. Thanks again for all your kind words, we love you all!

Chemo

Tegan started...and practically finished her first round of Chemotherapy last night. We thought that it would take a few more days, but we are finding out that a lot of the things we have been told are changing. She is such a trooper and has held up really well. The major side effect that we have seen is vomiting. She is so crazy though because right after she throws up she is smiling and happy. We sure are learning a lot from this little girl.

We went to the Huntsman Cancer Institute today to talk about radiation. It was an informative meeting but a little unnecessary since she will not begin radiation until her 13 cycles of Chemo are completed.

It appears as though we will be checking out tonight. Doctors told us we would be here for a few days but it seems like Tegan is doing well enough with her treatments to continue them at home. Now that is the next obstacle. Nobody told us how involved in the Chemotherapy process we were going to have to be. And by me, I mostly mean my mom. She is the epitome of Nurse Betty and I keep telling her she is so getting a Hawaiian vacation out of this hell she is in right now! We learned today that on top of the antibiotics, flushing of the line, and changing her bandages, someone will also have to administer a shot to Tegan everyday. It has been a pretty stressful and emotional couple of days but I have no doubt that Mom and Ang will be able to learn what they need to do, and will be the best nurses.

Dad left today, and Eric and I (Kirby) are leaving in a few days. It is going to be up to Mom and Ang to hold down the fort here in Salt Lake and we would really appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers!
